Without question, the space that now houses the Koenig Sphere (Liberty Park) is a must-see when you are in Lower Manhattan near the 9/11 Memorial & Museum and One World Trade Center. This structure, in my opinion, is a testament to the strength and resiliency that lives within New York City, and the space where this sculpture now rests is absolutely beautiful. The green spaces surrounding the structure will offer a sense of serenity, and the views of Lower Manhattan from this look-out are also stunning! Definitely plan to visit when you're in the area.

Made it a point to visit this sculpture after the 9/11 memorial and museum. This sculpture was always iconic to me of the former World Trade Center towers and 'old America'. Very surreal finally being able to see the sculpture in person, I had long assumed it destroyed having been between the two towers. Chilling more than anything else in the city... probably won't mean much to people who don't fully understand/appreciate it's story but still highly recommend a visit.

The Sphere in NYC is a poignant emblem of resilience and hope. This monumental bronze sculpture, created by German artist Fritz Koenig, originally stood between the Twin Towers at the World Trade Center. After surviving the tragic events of 9/11 with scars and damage, it was relocated to Liberty Park, serving as a powerful memorial. The Sphere’s presence is a silent yet formidable reminder of the past and a symbol of the city’s unbreakable spirit. It invites visitors to reflect on history, honor the resilient, and appreciate the art that endures through the city’s...

The Sphere is a large metallic sculpture by German sculptor Fritz Koenig, currently displayed in Battery Park, that once stood in the middle of Austin Tobin Plaza, the area between the World Trade Center towers in Manhattan. After being recovered from the rubble of the Twin Towers after the September 11, 2001 attacks, its fate was initially uncertain and it was dismantled into its components. Although it remained structurally intact, it had been visibly damaged by debris from the airliners that were crashed into the buildings and the collapsing...
