Located in the heart of the FIDI (financial district) this beautiful hotel is steps away from attractions and all area transit options. It’s about one block from the World Trade Center and the new One World Tower. The hotel is one of the nicest Marriott’s I’ve stayed in, complete with an updated and functional Marriott Club Lounge. I haven’t seen one of these operating like pre-Covid in years. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms, while on the smaller size, (it is NYC after all) are well appointed and more than adequate. We stayed on the 34th floor and were upgraded to a Harbor view. It was a real treat to walk in to the room, look out our window and see Lady Liberty. This upgrade should be on your list. It was beautiful to look out over the harbor everything morning and evening.
The Lounge had breakfast every morning we were there, but it shut down food service at 9:30 AM. This was way before we woke up every day, so I was never able to experience it. Having it open until 10:00 AM would have made a big difference for us. The Lounge Staff member was super friendly and helped to start our day off with a smile. She really set the tone of the day for us. Thank you for being such a joy.
Our room attendant was always punctual and serviced our room each day. Something, again, I haven’t experienced since pre-Covid. It reminded me of how nice it used to be at Marriott properties. I loved that I never had to ask for anything on this stay. It was always done before I needed it.
Resort Fee: There is a $25 daily resort fee that is added to your folio. Usually these are irritating add-ons that offer virtually no value, but this one is different. With this fee, guests get the following value: $25 Daily Food & beverage credit. This can be used in the small convince nook for snacks and beverages. It can also be used in the main hotel restaurant. Supposedly they have one of the best burgers in town, but we never gave it a try. enhanced wireless internet Daily Tickets to the Big Bus Tours that run around the city. (one per day of stay, can be used all at once). This tour was great and recommended. $15 City Bike credit to use at one of the hundreds of bike rental stations around the city. This is applied through the Lyft app and sent to your phone by the front desk upon request. $10 Dry Cleaning Service daily
We loved staying here and look forward to returning soon. Everyone at this hotel is world-class. One behalf of our family, thank you for helping to make this...
Read moreTraveled to NYC for a mother daughter trip my daughter had been looking forward to since March. We arrived around 2pm and were told our room wasn't ready and we would receive a call when it was. We left to have lunch and when we didn't get a call at 4pm (our check in time) we returned to a packed lobby with people being checked in and given hotel room keys. When it was our turn, Gordon, was very apologetic and assured us the remainder of our stay would be pleasant. We were then informed of the daily $30 destination fee and given a card with a QR code on it. The card stated the credit could be used for food and beverage, but did not say where. The same evening, we went into the restaurant in the hotel (I believe the name was Bill's) and had dinner. My daughter gave the server her credit card when the check arrived and we told them we were staying in the hotel and asked about the credit. The server said ok, ran my daughter's card and told us that we would need to show the receipt to the front desk upon check out to receive credit. We thought that seemed a bit strange.
Because the food was lack luster and overpriced, we decided we didn't want to eat there again and called the front desk to ask if the credit could be used elsewhere. We were told it could be used to purchased sundries. The next day, we went to purchase sundries using the credit and were told we could not do so. We then used the credit to eat breakfast at the restaurant. This time, we were actually asked our hotel number and the breakfast was billed to the room.
Upon checkout, we took the receipt to the front desk and this is where the real fun began. It was 4am and I had to stand there and go back and forth with Gordon and all the confusion regarding this credit. I told him what we were told regarding the receipt and even emailed him a copy of the receipt showing we in fact had dinner in the restaurant. He assured me that it would be taken care of. Imagine my surprise when I received the bill and it was HIGHER! Not only did they not give me the $30 credit, but I noticed that they TAXED the destination fee twice each day!
The only positive things I can say about this hotel is that it is in a great location and the bed was comfortable. The rooms are a decent size for New York, but they were not clean. In our room, it appeared that the linens were changed on the beds, but little else. Certainly not worth a taxed destination fee that can only be used...
Read moreRead moreSix of us spent 6 days at this Marriott for some R&R. This is a small Marriott hotel but location was convenient with easy access to Metro. I am a lifetime Titanium-level member and have always been very satisfied with past service. But customer service in this hotel is definitely subpar and needs a LOT of improvement. Here are 3 examples: The Concierge club was closed that Saturday morning durng my stay, so I went down to the restaurant to get a cup of coffee. The place is about the size of a standard coffe shop, and was at best 30% full with many empty tables. I was the first in line. I waited and waited, and the line grew longer and longer to 10 people. There were about 7-8 servers running around, but no one paid attention to us. I waived and asked a server for a cup of coffee to go, and he just said he was busy and walked on. I (and others) waited for over 15 minutes, and still no one paid attention to us. I finally gave up, walked over to the front desk and talked to the manager. He just said "Sorry, you just have to wait!" That afternoon, about 4 pm, the 6 of us went to that restaurant for some coffee. The place was busy and almost full. Again we were first in line and waited for about 10 minutes, with about 8 more people behind us. Finally one male worker came and pointed to a table that would be for us. When that table was cleaned up, we sat down. We waited for over 5 minutes but no server came. Then a lady approached us and asked why we were sitting at that table. She said she was the head server and she did not tell us that table was ours. She said there were others waiting and told us to get back in line!! By that time, I have had it. We left. This hotel has a $25 "destination charge" per room per night. One benefit was 1 Big Red bus ticket per night stay. Since we stayed for 5 nights, we have 5 tickets. We only wanted 2 tickets for that Monday. Asked the front desk the night before if we needed to book in advance; the answer was no, just came to the front desk in the morning. We did at 10 am Monday morning. We waited for 10 minutes since the front desk lady needed to get tickets from the "back office". After another 10 minutes, she finally said the hotel had run out of tickets that day! To compensate, she removed the $25 charge for that day, but that bus ride costed us...
