It was fine for one night and one guest. I would stay there again based on location. I was a little surprised by the hotel having stayed at the Marriott my last visit and having a door man meet me at my car and escort me in. This was not that kind of experience.
One thing about NY hotels is they are generally small but use space wisely. As soon as you enter the hotel the front desk is smack in your face with very small lobby space but sitting areas on the left and in the back.
We arrived at 11am but were told we weren’t guaranteed a room until 3. Many of us had been traveling for hours and needed to change for a conference. We were able to leave our luggage to go have breakfast and some of us got rooms around 1pm. You could tell the staff were frustrated but they tried to be courteous. Some more than others could have tried harder.
The restrooms were two individual stalls on the first floor. It wasn’t very fancy. But manage your expectations. This is third tier in Marriott brand.
The room had everything you needed- bed, closet, ac, shower, television, iron, and blow dryer!
The bed was harder than I liked, pillows softer than I liked. I wish I had brought my own pillow. The sheets were ok. The towels were a little hard. Maybe time to replace them.
The bathroom was a sliding door. The shower pressure and temperature were great! The hook for the towel was over the toilet tissue. That was weird since rags and towels are generally wet and you want your tissue to be dry.
The shower faucet and shower head weren’t located near each other. You had to turn around to adjust temperature. Odd design. There were large in-shower shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. The shower gel smelled like furniture polish so I used my own.
I only stayed for a night so I didn’t use much of the facilities. It was conveniently located in the heart of downtown and walking distance from restaurants,...
Read moreI’ve visited nyc a few times, and haven’t had any major problems with any hotels I’ve stayed in up until this one. When we arrived, the women at the front desk was quite nice, check in was quick, room was smaller than expected (but alright) elevators were slow and would take a while to get up to your floor, overall it wasn’t too bad. On our last day, we had left in the morning and got back around 7-8PM. Once we arrived, we ate our dinner in bed, and I noticed my medication bottle had been moved to the bedside table and it was not where I had left it (hidden under a piece of clothing underneath the TV). My last pill was missing!! I checked everywhere around the bedside table and where I had originally left it and found NOTHING!! I know 100% for sure where I had left my bottle. Without a doubt. We went down to the lobby to tell the front desk. They offered to buy me new meds but it’s PRESCRIBED MEDICATION and I need a doctor to approve it! They told us that they can’t do anything and that they don’t believe housekeeping would steal. I too was confused on why they’d steal from guests! It’s unprofessional! There was no explanation on WHY and HOW my last pill for the next morning went missing! I am absolutely disappointed! The front desk were no help and I felt so invalidated they way they simply dismissed me. I am still very angry that they didn’t show any concern. I don’t recommend staying in a place where the workers don’t take...
Read morePros: The staff was incredibly kind and good at their jobs! The rooms were clean. Close to the World Trade Center, shopping stores, parking garages and a grocery store. No traffic so you could easily pull up outside to load your car up with luggage or be picked up from an Uber/taxi. Convenient plugs next to each side of bed in the king room. The bed was comfortable to sleep in. The coffee was good. We did not try breakfast but it was offered. Small snack shop downstairs with different choices. Cafes, deli shop and gift shop store directly next door.
Cons: The elevators take a bit sometimes stopping on each floor to pick up others if your room is on the high floor but nothing major. The bathroom door in our room was broken and wouldn’t close which can be awkward because the toilet directly faces the bed and the room is small. ^Like mentioned, the room is small. The hotel faced what we believed is a migrant shelter directly across and we could see many people closely through the windows . Next door to the hotel was what looked like a smoke shop or some kind of mini convenience store with lots of people outside smoking weed who appeared to be unsafe but did not bother us. Just felt a bit unsafe walking by all of them to get back to the hotel. Parking was close but $100 for two nights. Maybe something you should look up in advance to see if it’s...
