I have been a customer of New York Bird Supply for five years, but my patience has finally run out. I am compelled to warn anyone considering a purchase from this company: avoid this business at all costs. Do not expect to receive any reasonable answer to your questions. Each time you call, a different person answers. These people will promise for weeks to resolve issues that could easily be solved in fifteen minutes. Let me provide a concrete example involving my most recent purchase: • On March 5, 2025 (Order #195930), I ordered a 40-pound bag of Sunflower Seed Striped Jumbo/Large. Instead, I received seeds that were microscopic-nothing like "jumbo," and not even matching the ordinary sunflower seeds shown in their own photographs. • When I contacted the company about this mistake, they refused to initiate a return until I sent them photographs of the product. This correspondence dragged on for at least a week. • Eventually, I received a return shipping label, but then waited two more weeks for the item to be delivered back to the company. According to the postal service, they received the returned product, but the staff claimed they did not have time to confirm its arrival. • During multiple follow-up calls, I was told to expect a new shipment and a product exchange. Nevertheless, the cycle continued: each time I called (often several times a week), a new employee answered and promised to call me back that afternoon. Not once did anyone actually return my call. • Two weeks ago, I switched tactics and requested a refund, intending to buy again only if and when the correct product became available. The result was the same-endless apologies from various staff, and only after ten days and repeated requests was my money finally refunded. Across five years of dealing with this company, I have made several returns due to poor product quality. There are no certifications on any items, so you never know what you will get in a sealed 40-pound bag. Their so-called "5% bonus program" is a farce; the coupon can supposedly never be applied to any purchase. Repeatedly, I must warn you: Do not waste your time expecting any meaningful answers to your questions. No matter when you call, a different person will answer, each promising solutions in weeks to simple issues that should take minutes. This morning, I made yet another attempt. I called to check if their current batch of Sunflower Seed Striped Jumbo/Large matched what they advertised. This time, a new woman answered. She told me that neither Melony nor Bianka work today, but promised she would "100% call me back after lunch" with an update. As has always been the case, no one called me back, and I had to initiate yet another call myself. Today, two months after my original order, I thought nothing could surprise me about this company. But the man who picked up the phone today surpassed all previous employees in unprofessionalism. He demanded my name, but outright refused to provide his own, pretending not to hear me. After listening to my question, he told me that since I received a refund, I am now prohibited from making any further purchases from New York Bird Supply. His tone and blunt language were absolutely offensive and unprofessional. If you want endless problems with communication, payment, refunds, unpredictable product quality, and inattentive, rude, and even hostile customer service, then by all means do business with this company. Otherwise, consider this your...
Read moreTerrible Experience with New York Bird Supply - Scamming Customers
I recently had an incredibly disappointing experience with New York Bird Supply and felt compelled to share my frustration. I placed an order for 10 female society finches, a simple request that should have been straightforward for any reputable bird supply store. However, my order was fulfilled with 10 male society finches instead.
Upon contacting the owner to rectify the situation, I was met with a dismissive attitude and a complete lack of understanding. The owner of New York Bird Supply begrudgingly agreed to send a few females along with the promised males, but it was clear that they were not concerned with fulfilling the customer's specific order.
What truly irked me was the owner's cavalier attitude towards the mistake. He seemed indifferent to the fact that they had sent the wrong gender of birds and appeared to be more interested in brushing off customer complaints rather than addressing the issue at hand.
It was disheartening to discover that my experience was not an isolated incident. A quick search on Google reviews revealed that other customers had encountered similar problems with New York Bird Supply. One reviewer shared a story of ordering a pair of society finches and receiving males instead, indicating a pattern of negligence on the part of this establishment.
In addition to the unsatisfactory service, I took the matter to PayPal and filed a claim for a full refund, providing ample evidence such as phone call recordings and screenshots. The owner of New York Bird Supply admitted on these recordings that he sent 10 male society finches instead of the ordered females, showing a blatant disregard for customer preferences. Fortunately, with the evidence in hand, PayPal ruled in my favor, forcing the owner to issue a full refund.
This incident has revealed that New York Bird Supply may have a history of scamming customers by sending whatever they please, rather than fulfilling specific orders. It is alarming to think how long they may have been getting away with such practices. As a customer, I expect that when I order 10 females, I should receive 10 females, not whatever the seller decides to send.
In conclusion, my experience with New York Bird Supply has left a bitter taste in my mouth. The lack of accountability, poor customer service, and apparent disregard for fulfilling specific orders make it clear that this establishment may not be trustworthy. I strongly advise potential customers to think twice before making any purchases from New York Bird Supply, as it seems they prioritize their own convenience over customer satisfaction. I, for one, will never do business with this...
Read moreExcellent experience!! I got the birds I wanted, the color variation I requested, the gender and the birds are healthyhappy and adjusted very quickly. Thankful to usps too because the birds went from NY to Montana in 33 hrs and it was 25 degrees out. I had looked everywhere for a pair of lovebirds (male and female - not related) and I also wanted an Australian Cinnamon and then the standard green peach faced. Can’t find that in the state I live in so NY bird supply to the rescue and how nice that you can place your order online and they ship all over the country. I put a note about what I would like at the checkout screen and then followed up with a phone call. The gal who answers the phone is so sweet and helpful. The birds did not ship out on Monday due to extreme cold but when I called on Wednesday the temp had warmed up some and the owner said he could ship at 2pm, he verified what the notes on the order were with me on the phone, he assured me he could send birds not related and I told him I didn’t care which one was M or F just as long as I had one of each and different color variations of the peach faces. There is no guarantee on gender bc that requires a dna test but the owner is good at sexing based on his extensive experience and I believe he got it spot on I can tell by the way they act. The birds arrived in a nicely arranged box, they had plenty of food, water and millet spray even after 30+ hrs of transport. The box had little heat packs and the lovebirds were huddled on it when I opened box. They immediately flew out and away from me so glad I opened the box in a closed small space (my bathroom lol). I wrangled them and put them in their set up cage and within two hours they were chatting to one another, drinking the water and food I had ready and shortly after they were even playing with the bird toys and swinging side by side on the swing! To start I filled the water dish with sugar water like you do for hummingbirds or chicken chicks just to make sure the lovebirds got a boost of energy after the long transit and stressful event. I’ve had them a month now they bring me joy with their cheerful nature and song. Downside is the female is feral and mean and bites the skin off my hand anytime I try to handle her. I’ll keep trying to tame them could take a while bc I think they are...
