I have a bit of an unpopular take about this store. Yes, they do have some 'better curated' name and designer brands, BUT they are pretty off when it comes to pricing. It's very random. You will score if you are in mid range/contemporary/designer price points (obviously. it's a thrift store after all), but a Zara piece for $25, a used forever 21 for $10, BCBG for $15 and so many more brands that any other thrift store will price at around $5 to $8. He doesn't segregate mass brands from designer brands when it comes to price. And that's the bummer.
Other than deals on some good designer items, I find the store presumptively overpriced. Shoes are the most overpriced for what they are. Again, they are not your 'typical' thrift store, which is confusing if you typically support thrift and consignment stores. It's a shame, because I could buy so much more if they priced at market. It's like they are not up to speed of how the thrift market is evolving.
I don't think he gives great discounts either. A $104 total, down to $100 is not a discount in my opinion when prices are already so jacked up. Again, if you are a new Brooklyn hipster transplant, you might find the offering 'amazing at GOOD prices' but if you know New York and what thrift is all about in this city, you might disagree on the basics of things. At $50 spend, you might walk out with 4 pieces here, other thrift stores you will definitely score at least 8 pieces.
The place can get quite boisterous too, if you go on a warm day. I will give them kudos on the re-organization. They have put quite some order that it's a little easier to browse through currently. But, PRICING is why I won't return soon or often enough.
Pro tip: Always double check ebay before you buy. If his price is comparative to ebay, then it's not a fair...
Read moreThis was the last of 4 thrift stores I visired today. I've never shopped at thrift stores before and was looking for emergency xl clothes for my sister. The first store in Williamsburg did not really have a good selection for plus sizes and the prices reflected what felt like trendier vintage type clothes. The other 2 stores on Broadway in Bushwick were just ok and when i asked for xl clothes or section they just said they are scattered throughout the store. Shoes were dirty and did not inspire a purchase. I did find 2 shirts and 2 tights for $45. As soon as we walked in to RGR we were greeted by Raffaele and good Spanish music. The store was bustling with people looking through racks. Shoes were displayed as soon as you walk in and were in clean and presentable conditions. I found 3 pairs of tights xl and when I asked him for more he walked me to the section that contained those sizes. I found 2 shirts and a coat. I purchased 3 pants/2shirts/1coat and 1 pair of sneakers for $110. He was super pleasant and welcomed me back for retail therapy! Lolol Will definitely return...
Read moreThis is one of my top three favorite thrift stores in BK! I spend a good amount of time shopping in here because there is so much you can find. There are a lot of unique name brand pieces, vintage pieces, shoes, jackets, purses anything you could think of at a fair price and the quality of the clothes are wonderful which is mainly why I come here. Too many thrifts will try to sell something that is worn down and bad quality so I appreciate these guys for making sure everything they put out is still in good shape for the next person to wear. The energy from the staff is welcoming and friendly, definitely love that! I get to chat it up with the owner when I can about how amazing his selections are and fashion in general.
I hope your business continues to do well Rafael and to all of the people who are contributing with bringing in your...
