Sahara International Shop — Attraction in New York

Visited this store for the first time last minute the evening before Eid. First off the store has just about everything you would need. I went in for a thobe for my husband, a hijab to match my eid outfit and hijab magnets and pins as well as a hair cap. I got the most beautifully matching hijab and cute hijab magnet. There are so many hijab pins but I went with simple everyday pins and a very unique hijab magnet that stayed put. I was able to get a hijab cap that accented my outfit well but more importantly in a suitable/dressy material. Their hijab collections are impressive as you are sure to find something to match in various styles and materials. Help was available even amongst the last minute crowd. The lady was patient even though I know she probably had a long week for the busy season. She also helped me look through the selection of men outfits and I was able to get the thobe I had invisioned for my husband. So needless to say they have some of the latest fashions. Outside of my purchases I can say that I agree with the comments in that this place is a gem because there was a big selection of perfume oils, abayas, books, henna cones, jewelry, women, men and boy's attire amongst other things. I was just pretty focused on getting what I needed but had it been I wasn't on a strict budget I could have ran out with so many beautiful things. Definitely worth the visit guys. Only thing I would say is that the apparel items I feel could be priced a little cheaper. I would have been okay with paying $5 dollars less for my hijab (was 25) and $5-10 less for the thobe (was $60). I did hear ladies complain about the abaya pricing and the gentleman ahead of me in the line tried to asked the cashier for a couple of dollars off. So I know I wasn't the only one feeling the same. I went here on friday and the lady at the counter has so much attitude. She just keeps blaming us for her mistakes. First of all, why the hell would we ask her to use her bathroom, I honestly dont recall that but ofc she lied. Second we told her it was out first time in the store but we got the exact same scarves from somewhere else for 12 dollars. So she manipulated and changed this idea and said we lied to her that we never been to this store. Thirdly, she said she gave us a 40 dollar discount on each long dress. let me ask you something. No one gives anyone 40 dollar discount so stop lying. 40 dollars was your original price. My mom didnt show attitude to the lady once but she just turned it on us. Fix yourself first or god will punish you. When we asked if we could open the scarves and see them she said no even though we tried some other size and scarf on 2 minutes before. How the hell are we supposed to buy something without seeing it or trying it on. I swear people have no common sense these days. And when we kindly tried to reason with her at the register, she basically screaming like its the end of the world, she was like these are the prices and lets be honest that we only come to an islamic store once in 3 years. You shouldn’t tell us when we come and dont come. Dont get me wrong, you people have beautiful merchandise and items but you are robbing us and this is jot a charity.
