Had my first disappointing experience at Staples because of “Alex.” I was waiting behind a woman who clearly needed assistance and was relying on someone else in the store to translate for her. The translator had walked off to shop, and it was obvious the language barrier was preventing the sales associate from moving forward. After about 15 minutes — and after the associate called for help multiple times — Alex finally arrived.
I said, plainly and calmly, “She needs a translator,” which was simply a factual observation. Alex immediately became confrontational, accusing me of “yelling” — which was completely inaccurate and uncalled for. I was firm, not rude, and spoke at a normal volume. His response — “We don’t need a breakout, and we don’t have a translator” — was dismissive. I clarified that the customer did, in fact, have a translator who was shopping somewhere in the store.
After asking the woman to step aside, Alex began processing my return. I had two items to return via QR codes. After scanning the first, I opened my phone to pull up the second. At that point, Alex sarcastically said, “See, you’re not ready. Should the customers behind you be mad at you?” This was provocative, unnecessary, and frankly unprofessional.
I’ve always had good experiences at Staples, but this was handled very poorly. Respectful communication matters — both for customers and...
Read moreThe copy center at this Staples is the absolute pits! They never get my order right. I usually bring in standard 8 1/2 x 11 paper for spiral binding. They use the wrong size spiral or they punch the holes incorrectly. On several occasions I have asked for paper to be hole punched using the spiral binding hole punch machine, one per punched 3 holes in my paper (I could have done that myself) and today the individual punched the holes on BOTH sides of the paper! Really! When I first walked in they were not busy at all. When I asked for a small spiral bound book to be made (a $4.00 job that I had done before) I was told I would be charged $10 for an "Express" fee. Really! the job was going to cost less than this fee. And when was this put in place? Every time I use the Copy & Print center at this Staples, I am greatly disappointed. Take your copy & print requests to another Staples or another store all together. Oh, let's not forget, most of the folks in the Copy & Print center are either rude or they just ignore you. One was on his phone when I went in today. I am really disgusted by the service in this store! I am a rewards member and not a...
Read moreI saw a deal online in regards to a desktop that i was interested in buying it so i called the staples closest to me. They told me that they didn't have it in stock but the Bay Ridge branch has 2. I called the bay ridge branch and a male operator picked up. I asked if he had that desktop in stock and was put on hold for 10 before he told me that they didn't. So i told him that i was told that there was 2. He put me on hold for 5 more minutes then told me that yes they did have it in stock so i asked him if one of those desktop is a display, he put me on hold for 10 more minutes. He then told me that one of them was a display and that they are currently out of stock. FINE! I then asked him if he can check to see if they had it in any other staples location.
HE SAID "I'm not allowed to check that for you." I said "But i called another staples before and they told me that you had 2." He said "They aren't allowed to do that."
So then i asked to speak to a manager and he hung up on me.... I regret not having his name but he didn't seem motivated to help me at all. This event happened on Saturday September 27th around 5 o'clock at the Bay Ridge...
