This was my first time visiting Sugaring Brooklyn. They have a nice and comfortable apartment space/setting, with two sweet dogs; the space has a more relaxed, home-like feeling. There’s a seating area to wait for your appt. The bathroom is very nice and clean. Before you enter they ask for you to remove shoes, so if you’re not comfortable being barefoot, you should bring socks with you. I spoke with Natalie first for the First Time Client Intake (required before your first appt). They went over safety and discussed things that would help me to feel more comfortable and more aware of the process before I get sugar waxed. I appreciated how knowledgeable and understanding they are of mental health as a wax center, regarding any anxiety and anything that could be triggering of trauma, that may come up for some clients. Then they asked me if there’s anything that the technician should be aware of in terms of what would make me feel comfortable. Natalie advised me to not schedule a sugar wax appt when I am pressed for time or if I have something booked right after, which is good to know for the future. Waxing is something that a technician should take their time with, and not rush because that could be dangerous and not done thoroughly. So it’s best to schedule an appt at a time that you are able to come a little early to and give yourself time for the appt, the time could vary. They also seem to really value their workers too (policy has minimum 20% tip already included in the bill), which as a customer I appreciate and makes me feel good about supporting this business. I had Georgia as my sugaring technician. She is very sweet and welcoming, which helped me feel comfortable. She did a really great job with the entire wax process. She explained the whole process to me and before she did the next step she would tell me first; this helped me know what to expect. The sugaring wax experience itself was pretty painless, very comfortable, and easy to go through. The wax was warm and soothing. Each time Georgia was about to remove some of the wax she made a “Ha” sound to inform me that she was about to do it, which helped prepare me for the slight pain and discomfort (overall pretty painless). The sugar waxing process was less painful than regular waxing. I really enjoyed my first experience here. Definitely recommend Sugaring Brooklyn.

I started coming to Uncle Nat's last June. I had come in for sugaring but was super curious about laser treatment. I have struggled with ingrown and bumps specifically on my belly for as long as I can remember and really wanted to stop shaving/waxing the areas and laser felt like a possible solution. However, all the information I was finding online wasn't enough to help me decided. My first appointment with Nat, they took the time to listen to all my concerns, needs and wants and explained all my options and possibilities. As a black woman, one of those major concerns had to do with how laser treatment would work on my skin. Nat very carefully and thoroughly walked me through the laser process for melanated skin and everything else I needed to know to feel informed. I have been with Uncle Nat since and I have been so happy with the service and results! I have started to notice how the bumps and mark on my belly have improved significantly and now I am starting the laser process for bikini. You'll see in the picture I took after my latest session how the bumps are starting to go down and the marks are also starting to improve and how the laser has worked for my melanated skin. It's a journey but every session i notice improvements. What I also really love about this place is how body and body hair positive it is. I have been to so many places where I have been made to feel ashamed for having hair or not waxing more regularly. At Uncle Nat's, I actually feel like the focus has nothing to do with shame but more to do with expression and being comfortable in my body. It's so clear how passionate Nat is about providing this service to the people who need and want it. Every session I have with them I see their eyes light up when they talk about or explain laser, the laser process, hair shaping, all of it! There is a beautiful sensitivity, a warmth and love that Nat and the whole team lead with. From the moment you walk into the space to the moment you leave you are taken care of and held. Thank you Uncle Nat! Next on list: FACIALS! I can't wait to try them

So I decided to try sugaring as part of my bday self care. The only thing I have every waxed in my life was my eyebrows (except for that one time I tried an at home wax that went way wrong). So I booked an appointment for a Brazilian with pre and post care. Uncle Nat's is close to my home, it's inside a residential building. They have clear instructions on their site as well as the emails that are sent. Stepping off the elevator is a bench/coat rack thingy and slippers to put on. You enter, wash your hands in a very quaint bathroom and then sit in the waiting area. The decor and colors are very warm and welcoming. There is water, tea and espresso available. And a nice mix of music playing in the background. Erin was/is my Sugarist(?), I was so nervous the first time but Erin talked me through everything. The actual experience of being sugared was interesting, some areas are definitely more sensitive but I made it through. I had LED treatment as aftercare. Also Erin's music playlist is hitting. I am in love with my lady bits, and on my second appointment I added pits. We also talked about ways to deal with my hyper pigmentation. As a Fat, Black, Lesbian I feel seen, heard and welcomed here. If you're looking for a welcoming spot and great service you should check out Uncle Nat's.

I’ve tried laser hair removal at several different “med spas” & two dermatologists, and Uncle Nat’s provided the best laser hair removal treatment I’ve ever had.

Nat is kind, friendly, & super knowledgeable. They also did a very thorough job (in the past, when I’ve been treated by other laser hair removal professionals, I’ve had a problem with laser hair removal treatments missing lots of areas). I have blonde/red hair and pale skin (sometimes a hard combo to do laser hair removal on) & I still felt like I was in good hands.

I’ve never gotten a facial here but I might try one in the future! Will definitely be back for more laser hair removal treatments though.

& Nat’s space is gorgeous. You’ll get some home décor inspo ( & a complimentary coffee/tea) too.

Update: Returned to Uncle Nat’s today for appointment #2. Nat was super thorough and detail-oriented, which is great! They definitely took the time to explain everything they were doing as they did it, and I feel like they weren’t daunted at all by the challenge of having a client with red/blonde hair and pale skin (a win for me!).

Their assistant/nephew is super nice as well. He even made me a chai latté when I got to my appointment, which was a nice “extra”!

I’ll definitely be back for more treatments/services in the future!

Update #2 (appointment #3): Another great laser hair removal day at Uncle Nat’s in the books! As usual, Nat was great about explaining everything they were doing as they did it, and they wanted to make sure I didn’t go through any pain unnecessarily (as they always say, “you can’t kill a hair deader!”). Nat was patient, kind, and fun to hang out with. They know a lot about skin and skincare and had great answers to my skin and skincare questions!

I also got to meet Nat’s two bulldogs today. They were adorbs and hung out with me while I sipped my complimentary chai latté in Nat’s waiting area. 🩷

Update (appointment #4): Nat did an amazing job with my laser hair removal treatment this morning, just like they always do! They’re so thorough, detail-oriented, knowledgeable, and friendly. If friends & family ask me if I know a great laser hair removal specialist and/or a great facialist, I’ll definitely send them to Nat. I have blonde-ish hair and sensitive skin and Nat still always does great work on me!

Update (appointment #5): I had a terrific appointment with Uncle Nat today, just like always! They are always so kind, thorough, detail-oriented, and friendly, and they really take their time and do everything they can to get every last hair treated. Uncle Nat also told me that in the future they’ll be offering electrolysis so that’s cool too! And today they also started our session with rosemary oil aromatherapy which smelled really amazing and made me feel super calm and energized all at once. Also Nat’s two bulldogs are ultra cute & it was nice to see them! 10/10 would Uncle Nat’s again!

Update (appointment #6): Just had another terrific appointment with Nat! This time, in addition to getting a laser hair removal treatment, I asked Nat a bunch of skincare & haircare questions too and they had amazing answers! Definitely going to try the glycolic acid product & rosemary oil they recommended. After my laser hair removal treatment today, Nat did a red & blue light treatment on the treated area (and it was on the house)— this was super nice of them & it’s great to have an opportunity to benefit from light therapy this way! Nat is always thoughtful, patient, empathetic, and super knowledgeable. Will continue to be a client of theirs for a long, long time!

Update (appointment #7): As always, Nat was the best of the best during my laser hair removal appointment today. They’re so knowledgeable about skin and they really take the time to be thorough and detail-oriented. Nat is the best laser specialist I’ve ever been to see. I’ll...

It’s been about a year since I was last at Uncle Nat’s, but this experience is one that is TRULY unforgettable in all the best ways. I’ve been sugared at other places since, and nothing compares to Uncle Nat’s. They immediately make you feel comfortable and it is clear you are getting what you are paying for- a LUXURIOUS experience. Luxurious in all the physical components, and also frankly, the emotional components too. I am someone with a lot of body hair, and my whole life, I have always had hair removal places pry into my ethnic background and medical history to find out “why” my hair is like “that.” Not at Uncle Nat’s. They are true specialists in what they do. It’s not your hair texture or body that’s the problem, it’s other places not being true specialists in the area and not knowing how to cater to different bodies. My hair texture was welcomed and I felt so good and safe the entire time. I got none of the usual vaguely-belittling comments at other places like my hair texture is difficult or “stubborn.” I was welcomed for who I am, and Nat has specific pastes they use for different types of hair. They know what they’re doing. And they enjoy seeing people get the best possible service. There’s a lot of love that goes into this special place.

They check in with you to make sure you’re okay, and ask what your boundaries are around physical touch and language. Before they touch you they let you know in advance they are going to, and they ask for consent each time. There is literally no other place like this.

Since Uncle Nat’s, I have gone to some other sugaring places, and I am always shocked by how much better Uncle Nat’s is. Even just little things, like cleaning off your body part before starting, the other places don’t do that.

It is more expensive than other places. But the quality is also significantly higher. Like, my results lasted way longer here than other places too, and that speaks for itself in terms of cost and what quality you get. They also are very gracious and helpful if you need financial assistance.

I can’t say enough good things. I’ve been wanting to write this review forever, and there’s just SO MUCH good stuff to say that I never knew where to begin.

If you are trans, gnc, or have pcos, this is the place to go to.

Unforgettable experience, fabulous people, clean environment, class-act....
