Frieda was TERRIFIC! She is extremely organized making every step of the tour clear and understandable. It started with the photo Frieda sent of the location where the tour starts. What a help for those of us not familiar with Williamsburg! I have taken 50+ tours in the last few years in the US and Europe and it can be extremely anxiety producing if you don't know exactly where the tour starts. We easily found Frieda and she was prepared with quality earphones for everyone so that we could always hear her commentary as we walked. Frieda respectfully explained the Hasidic traditions in great detail and in a very engaging way. She asked questions of what we might know and also answered all of our questions. Since Frieda had been a part of the Hasidim, she is very knowledgeable about how the people think and what their values are. Frieda also included some stops along the way where we saw typical toys and tasted typical foods. These helped us further understand the community. Frieda had begun with introductions asking everyone what they hoped to get from the tour. Then, at the end, we sat in a deli with some typical kosher samples and Frieda gave us the opportunity to comment or ask questions. Frieda was very open and yet always respectful of this community to which she no longer belongs. This tour was one the very best I have ever taken. Thank...

I cannot recommend this tour highly enough, both for tourists and residents of New York. I’ve lived in Brooklyn for almost 10 years and have always been fascinated by the Hasidic Jewish community. Frieda grew up in this environment, and so can speak from personal experience about traditions as well as their day to day life.

Whilst you can of course walk around South Williamsburg without a guide, you will be extremely limited in what you can learn or see, without someone to provide expertise and show you the best bakeries! I still have so much to learn and would definitely consider doing this tour again. I’d also be interested to learn about the other Hasidic communities in Borough Park and Crown Heights.

I was definitely mindful to be respectful of people around me and so didn’t want to take unsolicited photos or stare, however it was definitely our tour group that was the novelty, and people in the community were generally happy to see and interact with us. We also took the tour over a Jewish Holiday, so everyone was dressed in their best clothes and Shtreimels. There were also makeshift Sukkahs everywhere. It was great to see, but definitely worth revisiting when it’s not a holiday to get a different perspective.

I’ll be recommending a tour with Frieda to all of my future guests who want to learn more about...

My wife and I had an incredible experience on our tour with Frieda! Without a doubt, it was the highlight of our New York trip. This tour offered us a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable insights into the community's culture and history. What made it truly special was the chance to immerse ourselves in the neighborhood, witnessing the vibrant community in their day-to-day lives. Walking through the streets and experiencing the local atmosphere firsthand was both enlightening and exhilarating. One aspect that truly stood out during the tour was the chance to savor some of the most delectable baked goods I've ever tasted. However, the most memorable moment came when a Hasidic woman, while pushing a stroller, approached Frieda and expressed her admiration by saying, "I love your videos." This interaction exemplified the impact that Frieda has had on the community and the genuine connection she has forged with the locals. All in all, our experience with Frieda was exceptional. The tour provided an educational and immersive journey that surpassed all our expectations. We highly recommend it to anyone looking to delve into the heart and soul of the Williamsburg Hasidic community. Thank you, Frieda, for an...

What a delightful moment out of this world ! I wish it lasted longer ! I was so excited to start with, as I know Frieda through YT since years I guess, then enjoyed every second of this travel in the past with the voice of Frieda to comment details, stories, and memories. Everyone converging to this point is seeking this little sparkling flame to brighten our lives and help define who we really are. You do not need to be Jewish or orthodox to understand the humanity Frieda brings with her in this very remote place. I am Jewish and know quite a bit, but I learned so much about this community. Cherry on the cake: I was not expecting food, but the already fabulous experience was doubled with a culinary experience with stops all along, from the delicious crunchy fried lox bagel (I will come back for that) to the chocolate rugelach and the exceptional goulash ! It reminded me the cooking of my grandma. Such emotion and spiritual diving, rich discussions and comfortable time. I was glad to see such diversity in the attendance, people from every cultural background or far away country, all passionate about this moment. Thank you Frieda for being who you are, and sharing this precious gift with us. Highly recommend !

This tour was so personal and deeply enriching. As a someone whose great grandparents were Hasidic, whose aunt returned to the fold, and who grew up in a Chabad neighborhood with a Hasidic best friend, and I live in a Chabad neighborhood now, and go to services sometimes…even with all that background, I feel like there is so much that I don’t know and haven’t experienced. Frieda is a fantastic guide, not only does she have insider knowledge, but impeccable research, and she’s cultivated relationships within the community that specifically make the tour a more intimate experience. She’s also funny, empathetic, and kind. This was a truly special tour and I’m so glad I got a peek into a world that might have been similar in some ways to my grandparents’ world and also markedly different (kosher phones, Yiddish children’s toys and books, busses labeled in Yiddish etc). This is a don’t miss experience that you will not be able to have anywhere else.

I joined Frieda on her guided tour in November 2024. The meeting place was easy to find as the directions were clear. The tour lasted the amount of time I was told it would - just under three hours. The walk itself was not too far so manageable on foot for that amount of time. We stopped regularly to be told about specific buildings, shops, restaurants, and other places of interest. We were given ear pieces so I was able to hear the guide clearly throughout the tour. The tour was as described and what I expected. I think it's good value for money and I'm very glad I've done it. After the tour, I walked back to Manhattan via Brooklyn Bridge so it was really worthwhile crossing the river. The view from Brooklyn Bridge walking towards Manhattan is much better than the other way round.
