Found one day in downtown Newark, just about opposite the Whole Foods and Nike outlet as I was looking for spots to shoot content for my brand. Serene gem set smack in the middle of bustling downtown. Saw some tennis tables and came back on a Sunday to challenge my husband to a game. Yes I won in case you were wondering. That’s the only reason I would bring it up. There are many benches and picnic spaces available to choose from. There was a band playing near to a restaurant on the grounds over the weekend, I’m. Not so sure they’re open everyday. Lots of street parking and paid parking in a garage underground.

Try The Yard, small burger spot in the park, across from the Robert Treat Hotel. The place is AWESOME!!! Hasn't been open too long, and covid wreaked havoc with it, but it is getting its legs and definitely worth a stop. The ox tail burger was amazing, would highly recommend, also great was the sweet potato tater tots, small little bites of awesomeness!! Ask for the spicy mayo and spicy ketchup on the side, nice kick to them. Limited drink selection and nothing diet if thats what you like (grab a diet pepsi from the gift shop at Robert Treat if you are desperate)

Right in the heart of downtown newark, it's always been a place to go sit and relax and take in the sights. The summer months here are amazing with shows, concerts, and events that go on all summer long. I have been in newark all my life, and to be able to see the park constantly improve over the years really warm my heart. They have a carousel for the kids, a restaurant, and its directly on the bus line.

Military Park was a short walk from our hotel (TRYP Hotel). It was a cute but well maintained park with some interesting statues and things to look at. From a bust of JFK, a military statue led by George Washington to a cute little carousel, we enjoyed a short walk before making our way back to our hotel. At 8:00 there were a member of people in the park and we felt very safe.

Got in the habit of taking pictures when I have to take long walks. Military park happens to be located in the direction I'm going. Still peaceful despite the busy, loud surroundings. What was disappointing is that despite however many signs & care by vendors/patrons, it doesn't fail to see signs of others disregard for others & the environment.
