Everytime I think of Pita Square my mouth-waters thinking about their perfectly seasoned and juicy shawarma options. This place has halal Mediterranean food down to a science and consistently delivers tasty sharma with a perfect combo of sides - rice, salads, and hummuses. When ordering, you have an array of combos to choose from to boost whatever suits your taste preferences.

An added bonus to Pita Square is the hospitality of the staff. Both the male and female servers treat customers and visitors with a high level of care and respect. There willingness to customize orders to individual preferences showcases Pita Square's commitment to customer satisfaction. I keep returning to Pita Square for the warm, valued, and respected feeling they consistently provide to customers and visitors.

If you find yourself on Hill Street with a desire for Mediterranean food, let Pita Square nourish your stomach, heart, and soul with...

ā€œHands down, the best falafelā€¦ā€ Those were the words of a review I read about this place and…

IT’S TRUE! I’m so glad I tried this place after some disappointing adventures elsewhere (I generally don’t post bad reviews, only reviews for places that make a great impression on me). I’ve been back a few times. The falafel is made fresh, and that makes a big difference. The hummus is good, as are the sides. I’m a vegetarian/pescatarian aspiring to be vegan so I really appreciate good falafel. This has been the best falafel I’ve had in NJ, not just Newark. I’ll post some pictures when the weather warms up, although I’d make that walk in any weather when I get a craving for GOOD falafel & hummus. I highly recommend Pita Square! Try it...

sitting, thankful i chose pita square for lunch. i was craving something to make me feel fulfilled, not full. balanced and fresh. i chose to be picky today and it went in my best favor. we’ll get into the food, but let’s start off with the atmosphere. pita square is fresh, clean, and airy. which makes it a great spot to relax and enjoy your meal in peace. colorful with subtle decor, clean bathrooms, great customer service, and an affordable menu. i got the $7.99 lamb platter: well seasoned lamb, rice, and colorful salad, drizzled with white and hot sauce. everything is very fresh. the best of all, perfect portion to eat some and pack for later. giving them their 10s, stop by and give it a try. i’m glad i did. i feel great...

Our to go weekly lunch, Pita Square has some quality shwarma chicken. The lunch combo combo in platter or pita, with one protein and two sides, cost about $14. The shwarma chicken is my favorite, its moist, well seasoned and perfectly cooked. The rice and sides are also made well, that enhances the overall taste of the platter. The store is little messy but in general service is fast. Big benched are available for group sittings. Park is very hard to find bear the store due to being on busy street of Halsey in Newark.

We were not greeted upon arrival, and the staff seemed disengaged. I ordered the ā€˜Mr. Falafel’s Platter for Two,’ which is the most expensive item on the menu, but it was underwhelming. The platter had an excessive amount of rice, very little salad, and we only received two types of meat despite the menu stating four different types of meat? I also didn’t find the freshness and bold flavors I typically enjoy in halal/falafel places. Overall, I expected more balance, variety, and value given the price
