In the search for a cheap and casual date idea, my boyfriend and I decided a movie would be perfect. We bought tickets online for Priscilla, and took the UNH transit bus from my dorm to the fox run mall. Upon walking into the place, we were greeted rather curtly by a young girl wearing cat ears and a mask who looked unkept and dirty. I showed her our tickets, and was taken aback when she asked for our IDs. Granted, I had forgotten the policy that children under the age of 17 needed to be accompanied by an adult, however, there were no reminders posted online. Still, my boyfriend (18) was able to provide his ID, and I was able to show my UNH Student ID, my credit card, and several clear photos of my ID. These were all declined anyway and I asked to speak with a manager, who was just as blunt about the entire situation. I was frustrated, as you need to be 18 to have a credit card and I was clearly an admitted college student, but I understand the theater had to follow the laws. I was offered a refund for the tickets, or the option to see another movie, which we ended up choosing. On our way to the theater, the manager actually followed us and it almost seemed as if she was checking to make sure we went into the correct theater. After entering the theater for another movie, it reeked of body odor and the air stung my nose with its unpleasant humidity. We exited and made our way to the restrooms, accepting defeat. On our way, a janitor charged after us, chanting ātheater 15 is the other directionā, with which i replied āI am using the restroomā. The janitor was no where near the ticket booth at our time of arrival, should i mention, so it was clear we were being stalked. At this point, it felt as if the entire staff was following us around, so we made our way back to the ticket booth for a refund, as we felt uncomfortable and disappointed. We were granted a $24 dollar refund, which didnāt cover the entire amount including transaction fees and such, and the employee was rude and not understanding what so ever. The trip was a waste of money, time, and I felt disrespected the entire experience. If looking for a cheap, clean experience, I do not recommend...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI'm the biggest movie fan you're likely to meet. I've been going to the movies since I can remember and I've loved every minute of it. It's what I love to do the most and it's an integral part of who I am as a person. But the times, they are a changin'! Regal Cinemas has been a theater I've gone to since they bought out Hoyt's about 13 years back. Over the years, the experience has gotten worse and worse. Sure, it's got a big lobby and fold-out seats. But the overall service isn't what it used to be. There's a genuine lack of passion for the films. There's more focus on selling products at the concession as there is on the actual films. The popcorn is cheaply produced, over-priced, tastes like cardboard saturated in grease and always gives me a head ache. The ticket prices continue to rise year after year, while attention to customer experience decreases. The tickets themselves are no longer thick paper stubs and have been replaced with cheaply produced and thin and fragile paper (this sucks if you happen to collect your ticket stubs). The crowds are always on their phones. There are far TOO MANY commercials before the films (we may as well be watching TV at home). And now...they insist that you choose your seat BEFORE even stepping foot into the theater!!! I HATE this!!!! Since when is this an obligation?? Where else on earth do they require that you choose your position within an establishment before you enter??? Oh! And since they've renovated the seating in every theater with electronic recliners (sounds great, huh?), seating capacity has decreased to half of what it once was (and forget about sitting in the front row, if that's what you're into...your seat is now roughly 2 feet away from the screen!! Good luck being able to see what's on the screen!!)...think about how quickly their screenings will sell out, especially during the summer and holiday seasons!! You'll now be forced to buy tickets online, simply to ensure that you can get a ticket!!! What if I like buying my ticket at the box-office? What if I appreciate that part of the experience?? I can't express how deeply disappointed I am in direction the multiplexes (most of all Regal) has...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTo preface this review, I am almost always a very understanding person and a rule follower. I absolutely understand that there are policies regarding the age requirements to see rated R movies and I recognize they need to be abided by. However what I canāt get behind is blatantly ignoring evidence supporting the fact that I am over 18 years old under the blind rule that āI need a physical IDā with me. I not only had a photo of my driverās license, but digital copies of a credit card in my name, my COLLEGE ID, my EMTs provider license and my tattoo in full view of the staff. Not only this, but I was surrounded by a group of over eighteen college students like myself that had remembered their IDs. And even in the case that the physical ID policy was even too strict for this ABUNDANCE of evidence, I would still expect a level of kindness and decency from the employees I interacted with even in the case of denying me entry. This employee cut me off several times and had absolutely no issue being rude and ignoring my questions and other forms of digital ID. The theater sold me four tickets to a rated R movie and did not ask for my ID as I put my credit card into the machine and had purchased concessions but ONLY AFTER we had started drinking our drinks and walking toward the theater with our tickets we were met with this requirement, leaving me to deal with the hassle of obtaining a refund only for the tickets and not for the overpriced food. The person selling tickets was rude, the person checking IDs was ruder, the manager was unapologetic and nobody seemed to care about my experience and the fact that I had paid $100 for myself and three friends to see a movie. Horrible customer service, lack of common sense, and ridiculous pricing. Iāve never felt compelled to write a review before, but my experience was so bad that I had to...
