Newport Ace Hardware and Outdoor — Attraction in Newport

Visited Newport Ace Hardware for only the second time today. The first time I'd wanted to find a really good quality narrow trowel, weed digger, stem pruner, and door bell button, and mission accomplished! There was a clerk readily available to answer my question about the pruner and another to show me where the replacement doorbells were located. I'd say that such a high level of shopping assistance is almost nonexistent these days. Checking out was easy, too. Today, I wanted a heavy-duty branch loper, durable water hose, and water sprayer. This Ace Hardware once again had what I needed. The loper was on sale and demonstrated to me by a very nice clerk who asked me if I needed anything else and then proceeded to take me right over to the yard tool display to look at hoses. He then left me to shop unrushed. After I'd selected the hose and sprayer, he saw me as I was walking toward the register and asked if there was anything else I needed, which was really nice of him. Like my first visit to this store, checking out was easy. For all of these reasons, I highly recommend that everyone check out Newport Ace Hardware whenever a need for hardware arises. Updated review. I found myself in another town and ran into an Ace Hardware store to buy something I needed and when I found out it wasn't the right item, I went back and they had closed earlier. I figured oh well no worries as I could return it in my town the next day. I went in to the Newport location with the new unopened item and they didn't recognize the Ace receipt I had in my hand. They said they would only give me in store credit but at a 20% discount to what I paid two days earlier. This doesn't seem like the store it used to be. I went to the Newport Ace hardware store this morning looking for an unusual hose connector. I was greeted as soon as I walked into the garden department. A woman with long hair in a braid ( I'm so sorry I didn't get your name) asked if she could help me. I showed her the strange part. She looked everywhere on the rack and couldn't find one. What a bummer I thought. Where else around here could I possibly find one. She said she had one more place to look and she would be right back.
