A night of laughter, dinner theatre at its best. This place is back and full of life despite overcoming a Job-like string of disasters. With Covid, natural disasters, and a couple man made ones too, this reslilent, They are back with all the gusto they have done for 41 years.
Jonathan and his family (including his casts) continue to bring plays and caberet. Oh the talent that makes up its assemble cast is amazing. Comedians, dancers, and singers made a well rounded cast.
The play was good. The performers delivery and comedic timing was perfect. It was a play about the ups and down of four friends. The problems and issues were revelant. You sympathized and yet laughed with them. The character development was great. You grew to love, hate, and relate with each character. You just wonder who you best associated or was you!!! The comedy was tasteful with some drama thrown in for good measure. The play ran very long at time, but the long running punchline threaded its way through was worth it.
The real treat comes after the play in the form of true caberet in that it features music, song, dance (tap dance) recitation, and drama/comedy. The humor was PG/PG-13...it was good clean fun. The singing amazing. A standout was Michael. He did a funny heartfelt song...the tap dancer was quite good as well...The whole of it was just really worth the price of admission.
Dinner was served buffet style. The famous meatballs did not disappoint. The mash was sweet potatoes. There was chicken salad on the buffet that had no business being there. The buffet is A- (meatballs =A). The buffet had really something for everyone.
Dessert was fair. I would give it a B-. It was a small plate consisting of three sweets...an overly sweet lemon square on a Graham cracker crust, a fudge brownie, and a Spiced cake with vanilla frosting.
My whole night was great!...
Read moreFirst, let me say I’ve waited a few years to visit and enjoy the Playhouse show and dining - and while I’ve currently rated it only 3 stars, it’s important to note that we only had the brunch which came as part of the AGING DISGRACEFULLY show.
What did we love? The show !!!! The staff, the atmosphere, the bar area was packed so we couldn’t enjoy it but it’s a great looking bar!
What we didn’t love: The breakfast buffet. I hate sharing that because this place really served up a fun brunch outing but the food itself just was average. Even the options were limited.
Long. Tasteless. Basic. And “tired”
Mixed fruit Scrambled eggs. Mushy “toasted” bagels Bacon sopped in pans of grease String beans and red bean salad Generic Pastry squares
As a big foodie crowd it was really disappointing. If you enjoy brunch - this offering provides less excitement than that found at the Hampton Inn & Suites. So much potential. Perhaps dinner is better? We will try.
Important to note that we’d visit again for any brunch show, if we had the option to purchase just tickets for the show. Unfortunately, that wasn’t an option.
Details:
The event we attended this past weekend had a jam packed house — We arrived at 11 to get seats ahead. Waiting in the cold to get inside for a good 20 minutes. Once seated, we waited an addition 40 minutes before being invited to the buffet. Also, due to their first day back for the season (or maybe low staffing) we waited twenty minutes for a Diet Coke. Coffee is served in paper cups and...
Read moreMost fun in one night. Superb dinner & drinks, great waitstaff. Great buffet dinner with top shelf choices. I had Prime Rib (Saturdays) and all my favorites. We were quite stuffed so we picked some desserts but put them near s&p. Time to enter the theater. Very nice, lovely... soon quite mesmerized...Fantastic play (all seats are prime view), cast was brilliant, lighting and sound was exact, crews efforts were seemless. I've seen this particular play before but dirrections were remarkable; bravo to the Director too. All standing applause ☆☆☆☆☆ We had put aside desserts at our table for after. Our waitstaff had re-dressed our table for the after show, refreshed the water picture, put our desserts we had shoved to the side front and center for each of us along with the after drink we'd ordered. Such loving details and so nice to come out from a stunning performance to have a calm, pleasant time to simply sit and chat about the play with others. Then we were excited when soon the festivities turned to the stage in the dining room. Many bday & anniversary celebrations were honored individuality as we finished out desserts. Then an awesome super funny Caberet Variety Comedy show opened. We were so excited by the jokes we couldn't...
