Bamboo House — Restaurant in Newport

Never visiting this restaurant again. Poor review. Didn't receive refund nor exchange given. Bought take-out on my lunch break here on 2/18/14. Took chicken general tso's home and the cooked chicken had an unusual foul-spoiled taste. Drove again to the store, walked in and politely asked for take-out to be remade/exchange. The friendly-smiling female who took my take-out order before, sat the take-out on the counter, placed her fingers bare-handed into the take-out, and tasted the chicken. The smiling lady denied she tasted nothing wrong with the food, and therefore, refused to re-cook the take-out order, and said no refund. She then decides to give the food much praise by saying it's their "most popular" item and "best chicken". She decides to give the food more praise, by attempting to offer the customer next to me a sample of the take-out with her bare fingers again. No worries, the customer next to me turned his head and ignored the request. The smiling lady then goes into a high voice and tells me to take the food back. As in, I stuck my fingers in it now take it back out the door with you. That's after she's touched and chewed the food and fondled the take-out a few times. I'm shocked I didn't have a meltdown. I was in awe that my debit card was swiped, food not re-cooked, and the lunch I expected that I had paid for was gross, mishandled, and I wasn't appreciated as a customer. I left the restaurant because I was almost near a meltdown, but before I did I picked-up the take-out bag off the counter, turned to the trash, and threw the whole order away. Hunger didn't matter after this. They never will earn my service, money, and respect as an establishment again. I don’t even know where to begin. We were in the area and live an hour away and decided to order here after we drove by it and decided to give it a try. We walk in and my husband went to place an order. We have two young boys a 10yo and a 4yo. I wanted to add an order of soup, watermelon and a bottle of water and she started yelling at my husband to ‘watch our kid’ as she didn’t want him to touch anything at all. We were confused and thought she wasn’t serious. So I went up to try and order it coz my Husband didn’t like the way she spoke to us. My son wanted to grab a drink from the fridge and yelled at me to watch him. At that point I had enough of her. She’s just being rude for no reason especially to a hungry family who just wanted a decent meal. We wanted to eat there after receiving our takeout since it was already past 7pm and basically kicked us out and told us not to eat there. We walked out defeated and unhappy especially with the service. No empathy whatsoever! NEVER EVER EVER GOONG BACK THERE AGAINNNNNN!!!!! I can say she’s the rudest person from a food establishment we’ve ever encountered and as a business woman myself I find it incredibly terrible to be treating and yelling at people the way she does. She needs a new career and not let her work there if they want to keep...

I came to this location on my lunch break, Tuesday, 16APR2024. I ordered the large hot and sour soup, 2 vegetable rolls, and the sesame tofu for $24.10 total after tax.

I am an avid enjoyer of Chinese food, so I can tell when I get some incredible Chinese food and some generic, bland, frozen food. Bamboo house has delivered quite possibly the best Chinese food I have ever had at a price point to justify their generous portions!

The food was SCORCHING hot in temperature, well seasoned, and brought out in only 15 minutes. I was absolutely amazed by how tasty this food is. The veggie rolls were freshly fried with the thin crisp of a golden, flaky crust encapsulating juicy, hot veggies. Sesame Tofu was textured and firm (my personal favorite) and well adorned with sweet and sour sauce, topped with crunchy sesame seeds.

The hot and sour soup came with those crunchy won ton chips, and had the perfect ratio of egg, vegetables and nice flavor; not too spicy but not watery.

Couldn’t recommend Bamboo House enough for their incredible food, at a reasonable price that was freshly made to order in 15...
