I had never been to the sportsman before as I had been informed that it was a hole in the wall being at the rotary and not safe but after a recommendation to check out the remodel. I was quite surprised to see how clean, fresh, affordable, had a friendly staff and how genuine the owners Neal and Mary were. Once we were offered a free plater of cheese and crackers and the best part was the talented bands that we have seen there since!!! Nice, cozy sportsbar! Everyone is so friendly and polite and the service was great on a Friday night! We ordered the seafood chowder (AMAZING) Newport Beach bread appetizer (SO DELICIOUS) and the Fish n Chips special, which came with 2 huge portions of fish, a TON of french fries with coleslaw. SO. Great bar located right off the Newport bridge near the Navy Base. They have outside seating, live music, food, and cigar dinners weekly.
