I visited my Mother (Marguerite Thompson) today Thursday 4.29.21 at Saint Benedict’s Visits are now arranged in advance and held through the windows with current COVID restrictions in place since last Friday
Just was very attentive as usual to my visit this morning and contacted 2E a few times to insure I was being taken care of and to arrange transportation of my Mom to the first floor window area for my visit to happen
During this time a member of the therapy staff Victoria updated me on my Moms therapy and her inability to attend a few of the sessions due to tiredness lately
Therapy had been a much need help to my Mom with her current health condition in inability to walk and to use her hands with arthritis and finger fracture present Victoria is always professional and caring and provides the necessary input that shows she and the therapists really care and work with my Mom
Rick assisted with bringing my Mom downstairs for the visit and was resourceful in moving the visit away from activity in Holbrook Hall where a quiet visit could occur and where residents utilizing the Hall could still enjoy the planned activity He was timely professional and also provided an update on my Moms church attendance and eagerness to always be friendly with other residents which made my Mom feel good
When I ended the visit I called the front desk to seek assistance with bringing my Mom back up statues and to give my Mom a goodie bag to brighten her next few days and Rick and Judy made this happen
Several other staff members (Kristen and Medy) also saw me and inquired how I was doing and provided helpful insightful into my Mom
People seem to always be in the caring mood at St Benedict’s whether it’s any time of the day and in whatever health conditions we are currently in
When inquiring about the possible expansion of Mothers Day visiting slots the staff took the time to seek answers and to provide again a caring touch to the inquiry
We are fortunate to still have my Mom and we are extremely grateful for the awesome staff at Ascension Living St Benedict’s Village that cares for...
Read moreIf I could give St. Ben’s 10 stars, I would. This is my dads second stay for rehab and wound care after a long hospital stay. Everyone greeted him and welcomed him back with open and loving arms. It’s not often you find a facility that actually CARES about its patients. From the nurses, nursing assistants, the social workers, the Director, rehab therapists - EVERY single person has been a step above the best. Not only do they work to accommodate the patients needs but they go ABOVE the needs to ensure that the patient is safe, clean, and comfortable (down to his clothes)! If he didn’t bring a long sleeve shirt with him, they provided it. The nursing assistant is doing Gods work and is an absolute angel. He bragged about how she wakes him up “gently” daily, helps to bathe him & even combed his beard and what little hair he has left, makes sure he is fed and dressed before every radiation appointment 5 days a week. His wound care nurse is an absolute sweetheart and she is on top of cleaning and attempting to keep it infection free. Prior to learning that this wound was cancer, a nurse named Margaret was his wound care nurse at home - she saved his life when she noticed that wound was infected. It turned out that Margaret also works for St Ben’s part time. When I tell you, God and our angel (my mom) sent us angels on earth to help my Dad, they all work at St. Bens. I live in Ohio and I have been back and forth to be there for him, but I can go home to take my child back and rest comfortably knowing he is in Angels hands at St. Bens. Thank you for everything that you do. It is not an easy job and not always rewarding but know that you are doing Gods work and you are ALL appreciated from the bottom of our hearts. The...
Read moreMy husband was there, for rehab from a lobectomy. All proper rehabbing was not started for 5 days. The nursing staff and the intake administrator are very good. The rest of the medical staff, doctor, nurses assistant, etc, excluding above mentioned I wouldn't allow to see my dead dog! Patient assigned medical staff need to read patients records daily for any changes. Hubby was on oxygen level 5 when arrived and they never tried lowering it for 5 days! Finally they lowered it and over a course of a few days, finally got him down to level 2 but every time they would say anything about it, they all thought he was still on level 4! Even when he went home, the oxygen was set at 4 for his trip home. When he arrived, we went over the medication he was on. Aleve was a NO, but they tried to give him an Aleve anyway, even though we told them NO! They also need to listen to when the patient needs his meds. They are not robots and may need certain meds on their schedule not the staffs schedule. The caseworker Agnes, who has been there to long too not know her job, is of little help! One female blonde therapist, very nice, but should not be telling people what Medicare will and will not pay for as she is giving out incorrect info. The food is horrible, worse than the hospitals and Joe lost another 10 pounds due to not being able to eat much of the horrible food. Which also, they did not always get all that was listed for that meal. More education needs to be done on how to rehab lobectomy patients and recovering addicts and to consult the fully functioning brain patient before just making a doctor's appointment for them!!! Again, they need to read the records! Not the worse place I have had to deal with, but a lot...
