I tried renting a one bedroom apartment there and the process was so slow they had me wait over a month to just find out that I wasn’t qualified because of my credit score. Now that’s fair to say they’re worried that I wouldn’t pay rent m, very understandable. Then they suggested I add another person and I did. After a long wait and $1000 deposit they denied my application and my roommates application. We both make decent money and were able to afford $2200 rent. Now they said your deposit is refundable but today is June 14. 2025 and I still don’t have my money. Put in consideration that the first application was denied May 9th 2025 and I should have gotten my first $500 back three weeks after that. Still no refund of both deposited totaling to $1000. There’s a reason for everything if they took over a month to process 2 applications and deny it god knows how slow their services to the tenants are. I still don’t have my money that they promised to refund it if denied. It’s ironic how they hold people responsible to having low credit score and they can’t even fulfill their promise of refund to customers. If you love reliability so much maybe you should model it to your customers.
Update: Today is Wednesday June 18.2025. I still don’t have my money back. When I spoke to Desirae first week of June she said it’ll be ready by 6-13th 2025 the latest. I called her on Saturday 6-14th 2025 and she said she doesn’t have it. She was very rude and kept speaking over me when I was trying to tell her that I called based on her statement. She also told me on Saturday June 14th that she just checked online and she can see that the check has been cut and it’s on the way to them. This past Monday I called again and spoke to Sam. On Monday 6-16th 2025 Sam told me that he has an update and the update said the checks are cut that day Monday the 16th. I explained to Sam that Desirae told me the check been cut the week before and it should’ve been by you last Friday the 13th of June. He said no the check got cut out today Monday 6-16th 2025. When I asked Sam does that mean Desirae lied to me, he said no maybe she was misinformed. And here we are today I just hung up with Sam and he says that UPS has not arrived yet so he yet again doesn’t have my check. If anyone reads this please give me a contact information for higher management because I’m not gonna give up and they’re not getting away with this. They gave me empty promises, dragged the process of the renting application which caused me to loose on other potential rentals. I was very transparent with them told them that I’m going through a divorce and had to leave my husbands house and I’m living at my sisters house. I need a place asap. They ignored all I’ve been saying and because of them I’m still staying at my sister’s place with her family. If this doesn’t call for a lawsuit I don’t know what...
Read moreUpdate: As of 3/14/2025 everything in this review is still completely valid. Frequent and total internet outages have continued to happen 1-2 times per month with the most recent outage lasting 3 full days. I will return to this review with another update if the property owners actually decide to invest in infrastructure upgrades and/or add a second ISP option with direct fiber lines to each unit.
I am a current resident. I do not recommend living at Highpoint if you work from home or value reliable internet access.
While I am writing this review, I am at 40 hours (and counting) with no internet access at all in my unit and no idea how long it will be. Four entire floors are completely offline and residents are furiously posting in our Livly app. It is certainly not the first time the internet has gone down at Highpoint.
Highpoint only offers an “AT&T Connected Community” system. A single network shared by the entire building.
ISP’s have increasingly pushed these connected community programs because they’re a quick, cheap way to pad their subscriber numbers and lock in bulk customers… at the cost of significantly degraded service quality, privacy, and security.
Even when the internet is “working” at Highpoint, you can expect random disconnects, obnoxious buffering while streaming, and generally slow speeds. Especially in the evenings when everyone is home and competing for the same bandwidth.
For the cost of renting here, it is crazy that the property owners are too cheap to install individual fiber lines which are far more reliable, private, and secure.
It is 2024. Internet access is an essential utility. More than 30% of Americans work from home. The only correct response here is for Management and Owners to install independent fiber lines per unit so that Highpoint residents are not stuck depending on this “connected community” garbage with no alternatives. Please provide residents with the “luxury rentals” that you advertise and charge us for.
Other than that, it’s a decent place. Friendly staff. Nice roof and gym. Wonderful location for walking to a variety of excellent take-out food and other local basics. Farmer’s Market is almost directly across the street on Sundays.
Honestly, if you don’t mind randomly missing work deadlines, getting dropped from meetings, or using your phone as a mobile hotspot all day while you pay premium prices for non-existent internet service, you’ll love it here.
This would be a 5-star review if providing reliable internet was not so utterly basic and essential.
Cheapskate property owners wanted to save a buck and now residents...
Read moreWorst experience ever!!!! Initially nobody called me back after leaving several voicemails and web inquiries. Finally I got through and was told oh we have your info. That should have been a red flag. I came to view a 2bedroom unit and made clear my desired floor plan. I was shown something else. In addition, there was a guy sleeping in unit 401 when we arrived.I later was told my desired floor plans would be available 7/6. I quickly applied! I called to follow up and Manager Ivan gave me a deal and verbal that I was all set. I shared I did want to view the unit before fully signing. It was occupied so I was to wait until 7/6. I agreed and reminded him that I had to be out of my current unit by 7/31 and would not sign before. I was then called and asked to push up my signing date as the person in my unit was transferring to a different unit. I explained I could not. I was told they were processing my application. 4 days go by.. I was called today by Desiree who said there was a " glitch in the system " the unit I wanted was placed on by mistake. They have 401 available. 401 was what I saw the day I came in and I firmly stated it was too small!!!! Why offer me that again!!! The lack of professionalism, the long hold times, the lies and trying to force me into a unit that won't sell....I am done! I asked that my $500 be refunded. This is absolutely ridiculous!!!!*Update, 7/15 I called today and spoke with Ivan re: return of my deposit. I was told he had no idea of when it would be processed; he would need to speak with...
