Our family went out for an early Father's Day brunch on Saturday (due to work schedules), and decided on a place mentioned in the Summer Skokie newsletter. The first plus: On street parking and lots are readily available. The restaurant itself is pretty and light filled with a garden area whimsically canopied with a series of umbrellas. Staff are super nice and helpful, and all questions were pleasantly answered. Our meals were delicious. Daughter: nutella and banana crepes, very pretty. SiL: chilaquiles w/ chorizo, piled high and nicely seasoned, and me and The Dad got chapins ~the bean base is addictive, as are the plantains. All in all, a success! We will be back. Two things: 1.The interior is noisy by the windows. We'll try another seat and see if the acoustics improve. 2.Plantains could have been more plentiful on the our dish (3 small pieces). I hope that even a piece or two more is added to the dish in the future. I mentioned this to our very nice server (as my only disappointment), and a few minutes later she came back with a portion of them to make up for it. Unexpected and appreciated, and it confirmed that this place will become a go-to for us and a place to share...

Don Julio Cafe is brand new -just opened mid May 2024. Great menu, excellent service, waitstaff are beyond accommodating. Plenty of street parking and next-door in the public lot. They have an outdoor patio that is decorated with colorful umbrellas for shade.

Try the Cartagena Sunrise and the Sunny Rancheros… the seasoned potatoes with cilantro spread is delicious. I ordered the papaya juice which was also very good. If your person that likes heavy sugar in your juices, this is not the one to order. All of their fresh juices are made without sugar additives. Very healthy options.

This restaurant is a perfect addition to the downtown Skokie area. I am blown away with the transformation of this building and restaurant previously the Euro café which served coffee and sandwiches in an old-school European setting, now the restaurant is bright, cheery, clean. The menu has an authentic variety of breakfast and lunch items and fresh juices is off the charts. If you have not stopped in Don Julio Café get there as soon as you can. This place is bustling! While we didn’t have to wait to be seated, I guarantee there’s going to be a long wait in...

My boyfriend and I were visiting Chicago and staying in Skokie. We passed this place en route to another famous local spot but tiene around and decided to stop here instead. I AM SOOOOOO GLAD WE DID! It was absolutely amazing. Our food was delicious. I ordered chilaquiles con chorizo and was not disappointed. Crispy tortilla chips, delicious plantains that gave the dish a wonderful sweetness that went well with the chorizo. My boyfriend had another egg dish that came with frijoles negros and they did not disappoint. We split one pancake between us and it was delightfully fluffy and sweet. If you’re in the area I highly recommend this place. Super clean and the service was prompt and friendly. It wasn’t super busy at around 10 am on a Saturday, but it quickly picked up as we were eating. I’m sorry I didn’t get to try any of the cocktails, but will definitely be coming back!! Victoria, the chef, can out and greeted customers and helped bus tables. She was super friendly and checked on us twice! Seriously, a great place...
