Such a beautiful and peaceful park in the heart of Skokie! Oakton Park is one of those places that feels welcoming the moment you walk in. It’s clean, quiet, and full of open green space — perfect for families, walks, or just sitting and relaxing. The playground is really nice and well-maintained, and there’s plenty of room for kids to run around safely. I love how there are shaded picnic areas, walking paths, and benches all around, so you can spend hours here without feeling crowded. The park also connects to the Oakton Community Center, which often has activities and events that bring even more life to the area. We usually come here for afternoon walks or weekend picnics, and it always feels refreshing. There’s something peaceful about the trees and the open space, even though it’s right in the middle of town. The park is always clean, family-friendly, and easy to access with good parking. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for a calm, relaxing outdoor spot — whether you’re with family, friends, or just want some quiet time in nature. 🌳

Wonderful park for so many reasons:

Fun and large playground. It has balance, climbing, hanging, swinging and sliding things to do! And, if you dig deep enough in the sandbox, you will find dinosaur bones!

Next to the playground is a large walking path and baseball diamonds. In the building next to the park is a community building that has the indoor Exploratorium activity center with lots of fun activities including a very large and tall climbing area and water play area.

Also on this Park District Campus is the Water park complete with water slides and a...

An impressive kids' area often hinges on those key factors: design, safety, and variety of games. A well-thought-out design ensures there's enough space for kids to explore and play freely, while safety measures such as soft landing surfaces and sturdy equipment are essential for peace of mind. Variety in games keeps children engaged and entertained, fostering their development and enjoyment. It sounds like the playground you visited has nailed these aspects! My only recommendation is to install some cameras around in order to control the huge area...
