Locker room is not as clean as I remembered it to be 15 years ago. Proper swim attire was NOT enforced at this pool. There was a summer camp worker who wore a white bathing suit with no padding and her breasts were fully exposed though her top with many children and families around. To top it off her co worker had the nerve to confront me when I told this young camp worker (in a kind and discreet manner) that her nipples and breasts are showing through her top (I am also a woman so I wasn’t sure if no one bothered to tell her or if she was unaware but I thought I’d tell her). The co worker told me her friend felt uncomfortable (though it was not my intention) and that I should have kept my comment to myself. I would like to say these were camp counselors and are seen as role models for these students as well as being representatives of their camp facilities. There is a time and place to wear such attire. There were also SO many summer camp students. They were rowdy-as well as one of their camp counselors. One camp counselor was throwing children up and into the water and they were being flung at any direction regardless if there were any swimmers in that area which made it unsafe for my young children to swim. I was surprised the lifeguard did not blow the whistle at them! At one point there was maybe 15 kids surrounding and chasing this camp worker around just to be flung (so imagine how that was like if you’re in their path while holding your 4 year old). Overall I did not enjoy my time here nor do I recommend it to anyone especially since I felt unsafe...
Read moreGreat water park/playground for families with kids! The kid area had plenty for them to do, even the main pool had a big enough part for them to play in that wasn’t deep. I loved that there were life guards everywhere and always on the lookout.
The food was a reasonable price and tasted great. We got hot dogs, pizza, and nachos with cheese.
A few things I didn’t like: I did not like that older kids (teenagers) were allowed in the smaller kid area where the big bucket is. This seemed dangerous at times since small kids were going down the slide frequently followed by teenagers who would also go down the slide and run around.
The big bucket wasn’t working so that would’ve been fun for the kids to experience, but they did have signs at the front to let people know.
Some staff were not friendly at all. They weren’t rude, but they weren’t welcoming or professional either. A smile and nicer tone would’ve been appreciated.
Lastly, $18 for non-residents is high. We paid it because of the amenities and how close it is to us, but if I’m able to go to another one that’s cheaper with similar amenities I would highly consider it.
But overall,...
Read moreIn the town of Skokie, when summer gets hot, There are two water parks where you’ll cool off a lot. One big, one small—but both bring delight, So pack up your towels and dive into the light!
First stop: Oakton! The biggest by far, With slides that twist and splash from afar. There’s a swim pool for laps, and a tot zone too, With fountains and bubbles and soft things to do.
Great lifeguards watch with eyes wide and bright, They’ll keep you safe morning, noon, and night. You’ll find places to sit if you’re early or fast, But on hot days? That shady spot goes fast!
So bring chairs or a blanket, sunscreen galore, And maybe some snacks (but check rules before). The locker rooms wait to stash all your stuff, Changing and storing—no need to lug fluff.
If you swim for your fitness, they’ve got you in mind— Lap lanes each morning for those inclined. And if you get the seasonal pass, You’ll zip past the line and save lots of gas.
But hear this tip, let it be heard: July Fourth is wild. (Spread the word!) It’s packed and it’s splashy, a popular date, But members go early—an hour...
