Ocean View Beach Park — Attraction in Norfolk

I love this beach because it is an ideal place for my two children. It is not as crowded as other places in the area. We met people from out of town that come to this beach for fun because it is nice. But there are some things worth noting here to help others who have never been here before. Our last visit was a week ago. My feedback is not to dissuade people from visiting this beach, it is a wonderful place to bring little ones, but I want readers to know what to expect.

The pros: The beach is awesome, and the location is ideal. It is really close to the parking lot and restrooms compared to First Landing and other places in VA Beach. The sand is gorgeous, and trashcans are placed all over the place. The water is not deep and not rough; an ideal place for little ones. Ramp for wheelchairs. There are Lifeguards on duty till 5 pm. Look for the flags: red flag means, everyone must get out of the water. Green Flag means no danger, and everyone is cleared to jump in the water. When we were there, the red flag was up until wind, rain, and highlighting disappeared. Restaurants and the Dollar Store are within walking distance. PLUS - Dairy Queen is also within walking distance. Police are seen at the parking lot the few times I visited here.

Cons: Locals are often here trashing the place. We sat next to a family of multiple kids who were from a nearby area. I know this because I spoke to one of the women. After a while, they rounded up their kids and left their trash laying all over the place. The restrooms are disgusting. The men's restroom is worse. The stalls have no doors. It seemed someone ripped them off. The women's restroom, from what my wife said, is also needing a serious overhaul. Partying at the beach nearby - which is outside of the government-owned beach - is a nuisance, but it doesn't happen all the time. When we were there last weekend, there was a huge party near us playing R-rated music. Then drunkards roamed the restroom area cussing and yelling in front of children. This has to stop! The parking lot is small, but parking across the street at the shopping center is an option.

Overall, this beach is an awesome place! All the negative things noted above are minor things that you may not experience or see if you visit this place. For instance, partying with loud music and cussing are not happening all the time, and not all visitors to this beach, local or out-of-town people, are irresponsible. I highly recommend this beach park to parents with...

I would have left a possible good review, I don't usually do reviews. Definitely not a bad one, but here it is.

We showed up for a birthday party at your establishment and was shocked that you were closed. Trash bags covering windows and a note that they were closed today. There was a party that was to get in there. But no, closed! They never told the parents or guests that it closed. Family and friends had to go to a new kids place, not even close. The parents and more than 20 guests between children and their parents had travel to Chesterfield to Fundaes Arcade and have their early evening plans with other family and friends put aside just to attend the party. I thank Fundeas who was able to help a distraught family, including Cole a 4 yo birthday child be able celebrate today.

I hope this can help parents that are booking parties at Ocean View check and recheck whether their party is cancelled or delayed due to anything they want to change without notice.

For the reply that Ocean view will give me. Know that we had rain and several-using the word loosely- 1 or 2 flakes of snow would be a better way of putting. To close the doors without notice was not right. Especially with a birthday party booked.

All I can leave every potential customers of Oceanview is to beware for the issues before your child is devastated not to go where they wanted for their party place.

Ocean view amusement park where they had that beautiful gorgeous gazebo Daddy and I used to go down there every Friday night and listen to the band specially if the country band at the farmers market in Virginia Beach were no good weed head back down to Ocean View and listen to some of the Bands there that are absolutely positively fantastic then we find a way back down there on Sunday to listen to the big bands because my daddy was a big fan of big band music because he was a musician he even used to play with Tommy Dorsey I'm so very proud of my dad I miss him every single minute of every day I've been back down to the Ocean View Park about 3 times since he passed away and it's still not the same but if you want to go listen to some wonderful music if you want to be able to go to the park and just have the kids run wild or take the kids out to the beach on the water or just a stroll on the boardwalk you won't go wrong with any of that and I think if I'm not badly mistaken on September 25th I'm not quite sure so you might want to call festevents or look it up on your phone and I'll make sure that I'm right and I'm going out there and get you some wonderful Seafood it's fresh rate...
