Golden China — Restaurant in Norfolk

My experience with ordering take out from here was awful. Luckily I have a boyfriend that'll eat anything, otherwise it would have been money straight into the trash can.

I'm a simple gal. I like ordering general tso's chicken with white rice. So, that's what I did. We went to pick it up ten minutes later and I was actually excited for dinner when we got home. We get home and start unloading the bag.

My S.O. got some sort of chicken veggie dish with fried rice. I got general tso's with white rice. Well....first problem was, there was no white rice in the bag. I was immediately crushed because that is the best part for me.

I didn't even want to eat the chicken after that because they go together. My boyfriend offered my some fried rice and I'm really not a fan but I accepted some anyway so that I could eat some of the chicken.

When I started to eat the chicken I was severely disappointed. While yes, general tso chicken is wet on the outside, the inside was so dry I could barely even chew it. It tasted like it had been made many hours before and just kept warm.

I ate about 4 pieces and then gave up. My boyfriend let me try a piece of his chicken and it was the same story. Dry as hell and disgusting. Total waste of money and ruined my evening. Will never, ever order...

Nothing to do with the food but the staff is terrible, I'm assuming it's family owned I was walking past the establishment and an old african american homeless man, presumably mentally ill asked me if I could go into the restaurant and get him a water I assumed a cup of water would be free so I asked him why he couldn't go in and ask he then told me they were mean to him and would make him pay for a water mind you its 100 degrees out and I feel like I'm going to die just walking across to the restaurant in this weather I went into the restaurant alone and asked for a large cup of water with extra ice and they didn't ask me for any money what so ever. Who let's a man who obviously has no home and isn't really all there just almost die of heat exhaustion and dehydration, but a well dressed little white girl comes in and asked for the same thing and isn't asked to pay when she obviously has the money to do so. The fact that they thought this was okay infuriated me. This establishment will never get another...

Called ahead and ordered for pickup 20 minutes ahead of time. I got there and they hadn't even started my order yet, and had to wait while 5 people got their orders ahead of me, even though they were walk-ins and ordered after I did. I got the chicken teriyaki with fried rice. They gave me white rice. The chicken teriyaki was white meat when the menu specifically said it was dark meat. The container didn't have much chicken, as it was mostly full of the vegetables- which consisted of a bunch of very undercooked cabbage, and a hand full of sliced carrots thrown in. The "teriyaki" was more like a garlic sauce. Had to wait for an order I called in well ahead of time, they didn't get my order right, they didn't serve what the menu said the dish was, and the veggies were so undercooked I couldn't eat most of them. Not...
