The Connie Link Amphitheatre is a nice outdoor bandshell operated by the Parks & Recreation department of the town of Normal. The seating is on a terraced lawn with opportunities for shade from mature trees on blistering hot summer days. When we were there to see our son perform with the ISU Jazz Band, the concession stand was open and serving popcorn, chips, and soft drinks. I rode past for years with my kids, and I would always hear her in my head. "There he goes wasted talent. With all your gifts you could be one of my state champions." Usually said with Mrs. Knapp not far behind with some reference about the things that come out of my mouth. It wasn't until later in life I saw in myself what they knew all along.
