I never write reviews, but amtrak is so terribly bad at transportation services, I want them to remember this exact review. Not only does amtrak fail at the one service they provide (transportation) but in train maintenance, customer service, conductor communication, and most importantly time arrival. There has not been a single time that my train has arrived on schedual and every single time I try to contact about my trip about this problem, I am sent to their cretinous service options. The train seems to always have a maintenance problem and It is certain that even the people working here, have about the same knowlege of when the train will arrive, as the people trying to figure out where the train is; Absolutely none. No one can trust what the workers here say because there has not been a single time the workers have been correct about the train arrival. What frustrates me even more is the fact that Amtrak most likely teaches their people to lie to their customers and tell them that that their train will arrive on time when you can clearly see that your an hour late to wherever your headed. I absolutely DO NOT reccomend that any body who commutes to work via train or needs to report somewhere urgently, use Amtrak as their choice of transportation, for they have not proved a single time that they can get from point A to B, at a scheduled time. This is by far the WORST option of service and with that being said, I would be suprised if this input would encourage Amtrak to improve their performance because of the little hope they have given me after no response on their main website, and numerous late appointments. (ranging from half an hour to an hour MINIMUM). This is not a malicious review at the company but a demand to improve quality of service . I have nothing more or better to provide about this Train Service other than hoping that the people planning to use Amtrak change their minds, or that Amtrak changes their...

I use this station often. It is a point of pride for the Town of Normal but could use some improvements. One great feature is free parking for Amtrak riders, however few know about it since there is little information posted. Park on the 5th floor of Uptown North on College and Constitution and then notify the nice folks at the Tickets and Parking desk in the station. Don’t use the app that is widely posted in the garage.

There are no good options for dropping off or picking up from the station. Doing so in the obvious spot will get you ticketed.

There are few working options for charging devices in the station. The charging stations need to be replaced.

Review written 9/23/2025. Doors don’t unlock until 6:30am in the mornings for the 7:06am morning train to Chicago. I find that way too late to open the doors. Currently sitting outside with my pepper spray and trying not to go to the bathroom in my pants. Maybe try opening at 6am so people who get there early can get situated and have time to go to bathroom and eat breakfast etc before boarding train.

Also they have the TVs on in the station when it’s not even open yet and no one is in there. Totally wasteful. Thanks for contributing to climate change!
