UPDATE: OK funny story, I went with my friends to have lunch at LaBamba. Service was fine and the food was tasty as always. My phone picked up the location and Google invited me to review the restaurant. But I didn't; I don't do surveys and basically ignore commercial messages. Never clicked any stars in any amount, etc.
IMAGINE MY SURPRISE when somehow Google posts it as a "one-star review" with no text content! I get an email from LaBamba asking "Where did we fall short?" A legit question, but the fault was Google's , not LaBamba's. Has Google been doing this to every restaurant I visit? I'm gonna have to dig into the privacy settings and figure out how to make that not happen.
I'm leaving this as a one-star review with these comments because some people make a point of reading those reviews. Don't trust Google restaurant ratings, some are automatically generated. And not everyone wants to be forced into the role of restaurant reviewer just because they had lunch.
One other thing: Go have lunch at LaBamba; they're good people. In fact, all the restaurants in Normal IL do a pretty good job....
Read moreI have eaten at LaBamba many times, this last time was absolutely terrible!! 3 burritos ordered and not one person took more than 3 bites! The cheese sauce tasted watered down, and the burritos were mushy!! Called back to mention this issue after spending almost $50.00 and the employee was rude! I was told the manager (owner) was away, then told he'd be back in the next few days! Called back another 3 times and got a run around story!! Finally was able to get a phone number and the guy named Lupa (so) was absolutely the rudeness, inconsiderate jerk I've ever dealt with!! How would u not want to treat your customers with respect! This man apparently couldn't handle constructive criticism!! Then he proceeded to tell me he did get the message but choose not to call back WOW! That's great customer service NOT!! I was just trying to let an established know the food wasn't satisfying especially after spending that much money! Never again will Labamba be a place we visit! The Bloomington downtown restaurant on Washington st is soooooo...
Read moreAmazing service. I went in on a Friday night, the place was packed, huge line for sushi, huge line for Mexican food, usual crowd. My boyfriend running late for his train and I had hoped to grab some dinner for him before he left but I wasn’t sure I would make it. I ordered and sat down, and my anxiety was racing, I wasn’t going to say anything since I understood how busy everyone was and that there were people ahead of me, but the girl taking orders mistakenly brought me someone else’s. I explained to her the situation and she was super nice and helpful, despite being visibly rushed and busy, she checked on my order and she gave me a time. I saw her even checking with the chefs to see which one was mine. She got it to me just in time, she even signaled me over when they were about to finish so I could run out the door. Super amazing service, the chefs were friendly and they were working super fast trying to get everyone’s orders out, the girl that took my order went above and beyond, super nice and I made it to the...
