Please note their response to my complaint and take into account the kinds of folks you will be dealing with.
To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to formally submit a complaint regarding both the enforcement of your scheduling policy and the manner in which I was treated when attempting to address a legitimate concern.
I initially booked my appointment the night before the scheduled time, which was well within a 24-hour window. Your stated policy requires rescheduling to occur at least 48 hours in advance. However, no mechanism is in place to prevent bookings within that 48-hour window, which creates a contradictory and confusing situation. If rescheduling requires 48 hours, then logically, bookings should also be restricted to that same timeframe to ensure fairness and clarity.
Approximately 90 minutes before my scheduled time, I called to respectfully request a reschedule. My request was immediately denied, citing policy—despite the fact that I had only booked the appointment the previous evening, making it impossible for me to comply with a 48-hour notice.
When I arrived at the location, the doors were locked and no one was visibly on site. The following morning, I called again to explain my position. I made it clear that I was not seeking a refund, only a reasonable accommodation to reschedule due to the ambiguity of your policy. Instead of being met with understanding, I was met with hostility, interruption, and an overall dismissive attitude.
The individual I spoke with repeatedly referred me to “the website” to submit a complaint, despite my attempts to clarify that I was not complaining—I was making a reasonable request. My efforts to speak calmly and clearly were ignored, and I was talked over multiple times. I also requested to speak with someone in a position of decision-making authority, and that request was flatly denied.
As a result of this experience, I am now submitting a formal complaint, as directed. Given the combination of poor communication, vague policy enforcement, and disrespectful treatment, I am no longer simply requesting a reschedule—I am now requesting a full refund.
I hope this matter is taken seriously, and I look forward to a prompt and...
Read moreOn May 30th, a group of my friends and I participated in an Escape Room game at Escapology in Bethesda. We did the Mayday room, and we were EXTREMELY impressed with how well the room looked & designed. It surely looked like & felt like a real plane! Also, I truly, truly appreciated how well Escapology accommodated our disabilities.
The total number of people in our group was 7. Four of us are Deaf, one of us is Deaf-blind, one of us has autism (myself), and two of us have cerebral palsy. When I called Escapology ahead of time to see if we can receive extra time in the room since it takes longer for us to receive information, to maneuver the room, and to process the information. Without any difficulty, we got 90 minutes to escape the room. Additionally, we were hugely impressed with the technology set up there – hints in the form of subtitles on a TV screen and the moving parts (such as a door opening after solving a certain puzzle).
Our game host, Raquel, was outstanding! She was very patient with us and tried to sign as much as possible when communicating with us (as we use American Sign Language as our mode of communication). Also, when we were stuck, she was very gestural in communicating hints (such as pointing to objects & locations). She was very friendly as well! It was very easy to interact with her as well!
At the end, I happened to peek into the “master room” where all the laptops and TV screens are located. I was blown away by how well the system is set up!
I will definitely return to Escapology for my future games! It is actually one of the best escape room attractions I...
Read moreI've done a good amount of escape rooms, but finished all of the difficulties at my favorite location, and decided to try escapology with my friends. We wanted to start with the easiest difficulty and move our way up. As far as "easier" escape rooms go, it was not the best. Antidote was very well designed aesthetically and the room was really cool, but I found the "ease" of the room to be in its lack of multiple things to do. It was very linear with its approach, having only 1 thing to do at any given time. A couple of our group members were left standing around because it didn't make sense to have 6 people working on 1 thing. The puzzles were not super hard, just a bit confusing and afterward we were left thinking "why is this the way they wanted us to do it". Additionally, the hint we needed basically gave away that part of the puzzle, even giving an example of how to do it. Even with easier rooms at other places, we would escape with maybe a couple mins remaining, but we left with over 25 minutes left, making it pretty anticlimactic. I have heard that the harder difficulties are definitely more fun, so I will definitely return, but I just wanted to give my feedback for anyone interested...
