Patel Brothers is an absolute gem and my go-to for all things South Asian groceries! Every visit feels like a culinary adventure. The selection is truly unparalleled – from fresh, vibrant produce to an incredible array of spices, dals, flours, and frozen goods, they have everything you could possibly need, and often things you didn't even know you needed!
The produce section is always well-stocked and incredibly fresh, which is a huge plus. I particularly appreciate the variety of unique vegetables and fruits that are hard to find elsewhere. Their spice aisle alone is worth the trip, offering an extensive range with fantastic quality and competitive prices.
Beyond the staples, I love exploring their ready-made snacks, sweets, and frozen Indian meals for those nights I don't feel like cooking from scratch. The staff are consistently friendly and helpful, always willing to assist if you can't find something or have a question.
The store is well-organized, making it easy to navigate despite its vast inventory. It's a clean and welcoming environment that truly caters to the community. If you're looking for authentic Indian groceries and a fantastic shopping experience, look no further than Patel Brothers. It's a five-star...
Read moreThis place is poorly managed and run. We were just there on a weekday afternoon to get rice. They had blocked the aisle that has the rice with a large pallet on one side in a way that we could not access the rice. We walked around to the other side to get rice. One of their employees snapped his fingers at us from behind and yelled "ehh ehhh get out GET OUT" and made us get out and blocked the other side with another large pallet. I asked how we can access the rice? He looked right at me and completely ignored me. I asked to speak to the manager. Cashier pointed out the guy that was the manager. When I went to talk to him, the "Manager" looked at the floor the entire time I talked to him, did not apologize and just said 'yea yea yea". Zero eye contact, zero acknowledgement that they are blocking off access to entire aisles full of rice and flour in the MIDDLE OF THE DAY when the store is OPEN FOR BUSINESS. Zero question on what it is that I am looking for, zero offer to help me grab the rice I wanted. Beyond extremely rude. Wow. Do better. Patidar is MUCH BETTER service as is the Star Bazaar in Somerset. I buy several hundred dollars worth of Indian groceries every month. This place just lost...
Read moreThey've upgraded the store, making it more spacious and lively than it used to be. Indian grocery quality is better than most stores in the area, especially the green vegetables and many tropical/equatorial fruits not otherwise available in US supermarkets. Cleanliness and hygiene were observed to be good with a clean and much more organized. Their snack expiration is also comparable to what it should be, I have never found any product on the shelves with a stale expired date which is a very healthy sign. They have a separate fresh Indian bread/roti section. Few years back, I had noticed them opening the ready snack packets into containers marked as freshly made snack but they seem to have discontinued that practice (although I've seen it followed at few stores in South Brunswick so be aware and mindful). Overall, it's a great store for Indian grocery shopping and has been one of the better places to shop in terms of...
