This is my second time at this theater. The first time ran smoothly and I was hopeful for this movie theater. Even though there were police presents. I am a third generation in this neighborhood. This time I went to see “How to Train a Dragon 3”. I got to the movie theater at 530 pm and my movie started at 6 pm. I asked if I could have a pretzel but was told they had none. While ordering my food the girl behind my cashier said I don't know how to cook the pretzel. So, they had them but just didn't know how to cook them. I continued to order food at concession a chili dog, hot dog, chicken fingers and fries and a large soda. I sat at the tables in the front waiting on my buzzer to go off. A woman approaches me from concession asking me if I got my hot dog. I said no I have not got any of my food I am waiting for the buzzer to go off. She brought me everything but my hotdog. She left me with the buzzer and said it would be 10 minutes. At 6pm I took my children 12 and 10 into the theater to see the movie. I had a buzzer and was told it would go off when my hotdog was ready. After, about 15 minutes the buzzer didn’t go off. So, I got up and went to concession and asked about my hot dog. The young man attempts to give me back my money. I said I do not want my money just my hot dog. I waited another 10 minutes. Everyone was ignoring me not asking if I have been helped. I saw the the customer service lady up at concession I asked her what is going on I ordered a hot dog over 30 minutes ago and showed her my receipt. She said she was aware of the situation and she told the cashier to give a refund. I told her I didn’t want a refund just my hot dog. I got my hot dog and a refund. My thoughts “I wanted this theater to keep the money to stay in the community.”
When I returned to the theater a child about the same age as mine just sat in my seat. The movie already started so I gestured with my finger to move out of my seat. He knew this was not his seat. His mother was in the aisle behind mine. She jumped up telling me not to point my finger at her kid. I ignored her and sat down. This is when she decided she was going to run around the aisle taking her sweater off like she was going to fight me. I told her to sit down before she gets kicked out of the theater. She ran down the aisle saying she was going to get me kicked out. At this point I was scared to leave my kids in the theater. I waited for the movie to end. Afraid the whole time because I knew she was sitting behind me. When the movie ended, I grabbed my kids and she was not in sight. The police were outside the door. I asked them if they could walk me to my car.
However, the police said she came out and complained. Apparently, she had tickets for a California “Maya Theater.” So, I am not sure if she got kicked out. The police walked me out to my car at my request. They advised me that there are issues every night at this theater. I advised him I will not be coming back. This is not a safe place...

We went to Maya Cinemas since I had a free movie ticket for my birthday. You have to go in person to redeem the ticket and can't book online beforehand so I suggest showing up half an hour earlier. They have a limited selection of movies and times with more showings being in Spanish than in English.
Maya Cinemas has a huge parking lot to themselves so it was easy to find parking. The only issue was that some of the shrubs haven't been trimmed so they encroach on some parking spaces or the driveway.
Upon entering, you can purchase movie tickets via the kiosks. However if you need to redeem the free movie ticket, you need to talk to the person working and provide them your phone number associated with your rewards account.
Maya Cinemas has a few arcade games that you can check out before the movies. They also have a few concession lines with decent prices. We got a medium popcorn ($8) with extra butter but that was a mistake. The popcorn tasted old and the butter didn't really give it any flavor. Instead, the butter stained the bag and got all over our hands. We also got a large icee ($7) which was standard. The issue was that 1 machine was completely broken and for the other one, only half of it was working so we only had two choices - Coke or Cherry flavor. Their concession condiment stations were not well-maintained and messy.
We watched Napoleon in MPX so the theater was a lot bigger than the standard one. They also had reclining seats and a tray table for your food and drink which was nice. The seats were a bit worn out with cracks in the leather but they were still comfortable for the long movie. We sat in the center of row E which was provided a pretty good view but row F would be just as good. Anything before row E would be too close for the huge screen. We watched Napoleon on Black Friday so the theater was pretty much empty. What was different about Maya Cinemas was that they don't play movie ads. The screen was off until 1 minute before the movie. They then turned on the Maya Cinema ads then dimmed the lights and started the movie. The sound and visuals were good but I don't think they're surround sound where you feel immersed like for...
Read moreThe website and reviews of this place were very confusing. We wanted something to do for a mellow New Year's Eve with a 19-year-old, so we decided on dinner and a movie. I was under the impression, from the website, that Maya Cinemas was similar to Cinnebarre Theaters where they serve you dinner inside the theater, like it's a restaurant (but, it is not like that). After reading the reviews, I almost didn't want to set foot in this place. It sounded like a dirty, scummy place, even though it's pretty new, and the outside looks nice. We ended up getting food before we went, which was good, because they just have little snack foods, like hot dogs, nachos, etc...it's not a full meal- it's basically fast food/snacks. They do have a place that serves alcoholic beverages, and of course, they have sodas and popcorn and your usual stuff as well. A lot of reviews mentioned that the theater was pretty messy/dirty. I didn't find that to be the case. It was mostly clean- it's obviously cleaned nightly. There were a couple of places where there was a little spilled soda or popcorn, and yes, it probably should have been cleaned up right away, but it didn't look like it was there long, and there didn't seem to be a lot of employees. While I appreciate a clean and well taken care of facility, I also understand that the world is still adjusting after covid and many businesses don't have enough employees. I didn't notice employees who were not doing anything or horsing around, and we were there pretty late in the evening. The movie itself was great, the picture and sound were great, and the seats were amazingly comfortable. They are very cushy and lean back with a footrest! This is really all I want from a movie theater. If some of these people who are complaining would stop, maybe this spot would get some decent business, be able to find some more employees and clean the popcorn spills up a little quicker, since you all seem so concerned with this. OH- and by the way, the tickets were cheaper than any other theater of this caliber in town. So, bottom line is, it's not like Cinnebarre, but I liked it, and we had...
