Seng Couture — Attraction in North Plainfield

I wanted to share the amazing experience I had at Seng Couture, specifically because of my stylist, Illian. I did not know what to expect when going to this first appointment - I had a slight idea of what dress I thought I would want, but I really was hoping to try different styles to see what would be best. I was also nervous based on other people's experiences of wedding dress shopping in general that you may have someone who doesn't listen and just pushes dresses on you that are well above budget. Luckily, I had the opposite experience.

Illian was very patient as I tried on many different styles in my first appointment. Based on my feedback, she continued to grab more dresses that seemed to suit what I was feeling good in. She ended up finding one that my family was extremely excited about, but I still wasn't sure. At the end of the appointment, I was not ready to make a decision and Illian was supportive saying 'everyone has their own dress journey' and did not make me feel bad that I would need to make a return appointment. I made sure to book my next appointment with Illian, as I felt we made really good progress and I loved the support she provided. Throughout the entire time, she always gave good feedback to help me see different aspects, but her feedback was also neutral and unbiased - as to not sway me in one direction or another. She also was extremely creative and would think outside of the box. I was interested in a couple of options, but still looking for more of a wow factor; and even though the store was already past closing time for my 2nd appt, Illian went out of her way to add sequins & beads on the straps and different variations so I could see how it would look with this new twist. Even after this, I was still not ready to make a decision so I came back for a 3rd time (still making sure to book with Illian). We left the last appointment thinking we were down to a final two, but after doing some thinking, I felt I still wanted to see more. I nervously emailed her asking to include a handful of other options for the upcoming appointment (I felt bad that I was disappointing her by needing to almost start over). She was very patient, encouraging, and open to helping me find the best dress for me.

At my last appointment, without being pushy by any means, Illian was helping me narrow down to my final 2 dress selections, but I was still unable to. So, with my final four options, Illian set up a runway for me with a mirror at the end so I could see how I felt and looked to walk in them. The other staff members were always very supportive and I appreciated their comments as they would pass by. One staff member cheered for each dress and gave great feedback, which ultimately helped me make my decision, as well. I ended up saying yes to the dress for the one that Illian had picked out in my first appointment. Illian had said "I knew this was the dress from the moment you tried it on, but I had to let you get there yourself". I was so amazed with her patience along my wedding dress journey and could not thank her enough for all her support. Illian was never forcing me to make a decision, never sales-sy, and also always conscious of my budget. She would make sure I was comfortable if a new dress was just a bit above the range I specified, which I really appreciated. Illian went above and WAY beyond at each appointment. I never once felt uncomfortable and felt we built a good rapport as we were behind the curtain changing into countless new dresses. Overall, Illian is excellent at her job and can be trusted to help any bride along their dress journey. I would highly recommend booking your first appointment with her! KAYLA!!!!! She was absolutely PHENOMENAL! From the very start, she was warm and welcoming (I was also excited because we had the same name lol). Even before we met in person, she took the time for a phone consultation, and she was so kind, funny, and overall blissful. She asked about my likes and dislikes based on the photo inspiration I had sent a few days prior. This was my very first dress shopping appointment, and she made me feel completely at ease. She answered all of my questions and took the time to explain different lace patterns, beading, necklines, and more. She even took the extra step of looking up my venue to get an idea of the theme I was going for, which I absolutely loved. One of the things I really appreciated was that, at the start of the appointment, Kayla set a clear boundary by saying her one rule was "the bride talks first." This was such a thoughtful touch, as it allowed me to express my wants and needs before family and friends offered their opinions. It made me feel truly heard and ensured that my vision was prioritized—especially since I had a sizable group with me. Once we arrived at the store, she was incredibly accommodating, paying close attention to both what I liked and didn’t like. She struck the perfect balance between professionalism and a light-hearted, fun approach. Since it was my first appointment, there was no pressure at all—she simply wanted me to explore and get a feel for what I found flattering. At the end of the appointment, Kayla spoke with me privately to check in on how I was feeling and if I had a better idea of what I was looking for. She could tell I was a bit overwhelmed, so she asked if I would prefer to come back later with a smaller group to try on more dresses in a more relaxed setting. Her warmth, care, and ability to read my emotions made me feel so comfortable, and I immediately decided to book another appointment. Between appointments, Kayla went above and beyond. She asked me to send her more inspiration now that I had a clearer idea of what I wanted. She encouraged me to send photos from social media and even from other bridal shops where I had tried on dresses or planned to visit. She then took the time to find out what I liked and disliked about those dresses, what was missing, and what features I couldn't live without. It was clear she was focused on making my dream dress a reality. When I came back for my second appointment, Kayla had found a dress that combined all the elements I had sent her—features from various dresses that I thought would be impossible to find in one gown. I was in SHOCK and unbelievably grateful for her dedication, persistence, and care. When I tried the dress on, she was just as excited as I was and gave me the biggest, warmest hug. And the accessories she added with the dress elevated the look and highlighted her attention to detail and gift for styling. Kayla is nothing short of amazing! For a few years I’ve seen the boutique and its respective ads on the highway. So naturally I’d been dreaming of the day I could go to Seng for my wedding dress. Alas, the day finally came, and blowing my expectations out of the water doesn’t cover how great an experience I had. I actually had 2 visits because I wanted my first appointment to be seamless, without the delay of an opinionated entourage. I was originally scheduled with Jacqueline, but ended up with an absolute earth Angel, Kayla! Truth be told, I was nervous and super unsure about what to expect or what I should already know.

Well Kayla was a godsend; she elevated my energy, assured me in a way that brought out my natural confidence, and was such an incredible listener. Just off that, what was a nerve wrecking moment, turned into one of the most incredible moments I’ve experienced since the day my fiancé proposed to me. I thought I had my dress but decided to come back for a second appointment accompanied by my family. Woooo!

That Saturday the boutique was abuzz with magic and joy, it was the trunk show! But you could see just how much all of the employees really love what they do and just how well equipped they are at what they do. Don’t let anyone tell you bridal styling is not a gift from god, because (let it be known) all of you guys are someone’s fairy godmother!

Kayla came over with Megan in tow, a sweet faced trainee, who undoubtedly will be making so many future brides to be dreams come closer to reality. Kayla had selected a few new dresses for me to try, and they were on point. As we progressed and I continued to try these pieces of art on, something clicked in her mind and the girls ran out to get something. The next thing I know, they have the most perfect dress in tow … she was THE ONE. Someone the employees stopped to give sweet compliments, the bridal party across from us were give nods of approval and my own entourage was speechless. It was a wrap. I wanna give a special shout-out to Kayla for being such an authentic and beautiful human being, she puts herself completely into the moment with you and makes sure that you feel like a true bride, to Anthony who was the first smiling face to greet myself and my entourage, and Megan for being so gentle and loving in her work. And lastly, thank you so much to front desk staff who were so warm and bubbly, and to the sweet young lady that took our photos at the end of our session, a true professional and a baddie!
