North Port Library — Attraction in North Port

I love this library. I'm a homeschool mom, so my son and I are here frequently. The staff is great! Riley in the children's section is always so helpful and knowledgeable. Any time I need a book about something, she's the one that finds it for me. There is a wide selection of materials, especially when you factor in the whole county system. You can request any item to be brought to the branch of your choosing. They also give access to hoopla, cloud library, and many other online formats. The selection on cloud library is enormous. The only thing I would love to see added is a 'library of things'. Some other areas have access to checking out things such as record, cd, cassette, dvd players etc. Many of the items like cd's are available but they are only good to people with the ability to play them. If we had a library of things, more people could take advantage of checking out the older formats without the expense of purchasing the device needed...

When I walked into the library, it felt like home to me. I used to come here every day as a kid, though now I feel slightly nervous. It's not exactly as I remembered it, but the general feel was the same and I do miss coming here. The only thing that made me feel uncomfortable was being stared at by another patron and being followed around throughout the space, even to the children's section. I'm not saying this is any fault of the librarians, though I hope they are able to be observant enough to make sure every patron is safe and comfortable. If there are any further issues, I will allow someone to know about it, but it makes me worried if something unsuspecting were to happen due to negligence to obvious motives of...

This place has really been through some things! I remember getting English lessons here in groups with my mom when we first moved to Florida (and the U.S., for the most part) and the teacher was super nice (and still teaches I believe!) The kids section used to be so fun with nice staff and cool activities and events. However, after Covid came around, the activity in this library dwindled greatly, and it’s not that fun of a place at all anymore. Sad to see that happen to...
