We had a blast at WhoaZone! There were a few small hiccups, but it didn't ruin our time.
First off, do not go here if you do not know how to swim. Even with a life jacket, you need to be able to swim. Someone near us fell in the water & panicked because they thought they were drowning. This is an inflatable obstacle course in a lake. You're going to fall into the water, and it's too deep to just stand up.
Secondly, be prepared to secure your valuables in some way. There are no lockers there, but there was a heavy police presence & cameras in the parking lot. The WhoaZone employees told us that most people keep their phones, etc. in the car. It costs $5/hr to park, so hopefully some of that money is going to security. You're going to need to pay up front for at least 2 hours of parking, so be prepared for that.
Third, once on the obstacles, keep your eyes open. They let WAY too many people on the WhoaZone, and there simply are not enough lifeguards to watch them all. In a few places, the obstacles were a little deflated or floating apart more than they should be. Sometimes you're just going to have to jump onto the water to get around them. They sell water socks to help your feet stick to the rubber, and while we didn't get the socks, the people who were wearing them seemed to stay out of the water more than we did!
Lastly, there's a place to spray yourself off with clean water at one of the beach entrances. Swimmers Itch is a real thing that happens in lake areas like this, so rinse off before you leave & shower well once you get home!
Overall, we had a GREAT time, and we'll probably come...
Read moreMy 1 star is for how this specific place in ran.
This location used to have their sessions become "full", meaning they had a limited number who could be on the inflatable for the hour long session. They seem to no longer do this because when I went the inflatable was over populated making it difficult to enjoy doing any obstacles because at any given time there are 6 people on every obstacle, a friend went earlier this summer and said they had the same problem. In the past when I've done these things normally one side of the inflatable would be full but you could get around to less populated obstacles, they had to have at least 4 times the amount of people they used to allow on the inflatable for a session. This makes it incredibly frustrating waiting to do an obstacle or having kids cut in front of you.
Also, we arrived for our 11 o'clock session and they started the safety lesson 17 minutes late but still promptly kicked us off the inflatable at 12 o'clock. Cutting our session short of nearly 20 minutes for no fault on our own.
The check in counter should have a fast line for people who already filled out their wavers. The line to check in took way too long because both lines were getting bogged down by all the people signing in their wavers.
The whoa zone is a ton of fun BUT the way this place runs is making it become a lot...
Read moreI LOVED this obstacle course over water! So I went to the beach on 4th of July and since I have a pool at home, didn’t feel the urge to get in the water. I was just relaxing under the shade, napping, just living my life. Then, my son asked to go on but didn’t want to go alone, like a good father I went with him and invited 2 others who were also iffy but went anyways.
We booked it right from our phone at the beach and signed the waiver online too so we didn’t have to stand in the blistering sun doing it at the stand. Oh and the stand was cash only so that was inconvenient.
Once we got to the stand all we had to do was give them our name and they gave us wristbands. Then we went to get our life vests from another guard that helped us find our fit. They gave us a quick orientation, which included telling us not to flip off because the water was too shallow that day.
Once we got on it was so fun, we couldn’t stop laughing for the first half hour it was so fun. The surfaces are very slippery as you would expect and we fell going too hard right away.
There were kids there around 8 or 9 to adults and it accommodates all levels of adventure. I would definitely...
