I remember going here as a kid it was always fun. We were at whihala recently and it does look beautiful. But now you have to pay to park. Ok fine but if I have to pay now at least put in user friendly parking meters. I put in a 10 and then after noticed it didnt give change which is stupid. Its a park people dont always go to the park with debit cards so at least be able to give change. So I pressed the x button and was gi en a paper that said to place in window and sorry this machine does not give change so I put it in the window. Well now I got a $53 ticket and paid $10 to park for about 1 and...

Whiting Lakefront Park has been open for a billion years. The beach here is very polluted and full of plastic and dead birds. But you don't come here for the beach. There are nice little walking areas with some Short Hills. For people with a Keen Eye, you will find all sorts of little Hidden Treasures. There are a few tiny fairy houses scattered throughout the park. It is a mystery how they got there. No one knows who put them there. The house is come from a long tradition. There used to be a lot more of them back in the fifties and sixties. The bathrooms are...

Gorgeous property to go to on a date you probably could even have a wedding there under the pretty gazebo it's a nice place for a family walk out to the pier my family and I went there to visit the beach and to find out the beach at closed so we end up experiencing the park and pier instead which was as equally lovely I just wish they keep the Beach open longer. We are from out of town and how are we supposed to know that the beach closes while the sun is still up? Thats very unheard of where I'm from .. but Indiana is very different from Florida!...

Nice place to go and relax. The only part I don't like is how the train area is setup. when I was ready to go I got stuck waiting for the trains to pass, it is like five or six train tracks in the area. I was waiting for about 50mins for three trains to pass. Oh they have signs posted that say the trains do not sound, so please pay attention and walk in designated areas. They do have restrooms and parking on site. The parking is free on the off season, but from March 1st to November 30th you have to pay at the meter station.

Nice place to see the Chicago skyline. The South parking area was closed due to the lake surge...was icy and slippery on the sidewalk and road. Beach was not visible bc of the water level. The South entrance is where Google maps lead us but there was also a north parking lot. There are 3 busy train tracks at the entrance and all 3 had trains at the same time. Ornate gazebo and a pavilion near the water. Also a miniature light house. Unobstructed view of Lake Michigan.

This park is beautiful! The only problem is that when there is a train you're stick in the park until it passes. There is NO way around the train. This is also normally not a huge deal because trains eventually move along and you're on your way in no more than 15 minutes. However, yesterday (1/25/25) the train didn't move for nearly an hour... AN HOUR!!! And there were no bathrooms available! This was my only issue but it's a big problem IMHO.
