“THIS PLACE IS A SCAM” They are not honest. The first incident was with tech Matthew he started by upselling me a protection plan pretending he’s trying to cut me off a good deal.
I came here on 1/15/2024 to replace my iPhone’s broken screen and water damaged phone. I scheduled an appointment online showed up next day, this place was bone dry.
Tech Matthew and his boss were chilling in the back office on the phone. Two minutes go by till one of them decides to finally come help me.
I explained what I was there for then gave him my appointment info etc, then he was like it would be $100 to diagnose your device for water damage and dry it out to try fixing your Iphone without replacing the screen.
I was shocked because on their website it says free diagnostics. Then he started his sales techniques, and pushed out the protection plan in quotes “ It’ll ONLY cost $24.99 a month.”

I agreed to signing up to prevent paying the $270 for a screen replacement. then Matthew said it will take about 4 hours to get to diagnosing the iPhone and fixing water damage. Then he said give me your phone number I’ll call you when the phone would be ready.
I was like WHAT THE …. This place was bone dry, I have no other phone numbers to give him, and they had an open calendar online for the whole day. Why do I have to wait 4 hours?
I begged him to try getting it done sooner as I stay about 40 minutes away. Matthew said “I’ll try my best to get it done within one hour.”
I said “I’ll wait in my vehicle till you call me.”After 20 minutes waiting in my car he waved to me to go back inside the store, then Matthew said “yea the diagnostic to fix the water damage didn’t help fix your phone screen. You have to purchase a new screen for $270.”
(WHICH IS THE SAME PRICE AT APPLE STORE FOLKS)
Then Matthew’s boss said “yea we can give you $70 discount because you signed up for protection plan, however you have to wait 4 days because we don’t have the screen replacement for your device we would have to order it.”
PEOPLE BE CARFUL FROM THESE SCAMS!
-I am shocked how corporation companies are trying to take every single dollar out of our pockets by scamming and manipulating us legally.
-Also, how are you out of stock on an iPhone 14 screen replacement? Don’t you have to check how your store stock is? Do you cycle count (inventory) your products??? Why would you waste my time without checking your stock before calling me to confirm my appointment?
-Both losers working here Matthew K. and his boss are unprofessional and both look like stoners.
-I ended up going to Tech iFix in Vernon Hills, he’s amazing very honest quick call and was able to give me a good deal without hassle. Got my phone done in 20 minutes while I was shopping at the mall.

First off want to say I never leave negative reviews for businesses, but I feel like this place totally scammed me with their “warranty”.
So I brought my IPhone 13 in with a cracked screen in March 2025 and was quoted a price of $270 to replace. That seemed a little steep to me, but then the salesperson explained their warranty which would cover any screen replacements for cracks or damage over the next year. This guarantee was enough for me to pay the price they quoted given the assurance of free replacement in case anything happened to the screen.
Fast forward 6 months and I dropped my phone and it got a nasty crack in it. I make an appointment at this place and bring it in and tell them about the warranty. They refuse to honor the warranty saying that the warranty only covers “manufacturer defects” whatever that means.
I pull up my email receipt from back in March and at the bottom of the receipt it says all damage is covered under the warranty except for water damage. I’ve attached screenshot of the wording so you can see for yourself. I show this to the sales attendant who agrees that based on that wording I should be owed a replacement but he needs to check with his manager. So he goes in back and talks with someone on the phone (I can hear their whole conversation) who tells them that no only manufacturer defects are covered and they can’t honor my warranty for this replacement.
After some back and forth with the sales attendant where I even told them I was going to leave a bad review… I realized this was going nowhere and left.

Read moreI file a claim in June 24 after the my screen cracked and my screen went out. Since then i have gone to the location in Clark 3 times and each time i was told to come back another day bc they were too busy with other repairs and each time no one was in the store. I eventually went to the location in Northfield on 8/20 and when i got there i was told their "samsung system was down" and they couldnt help me - i finally got fed up and scheduled an in person apt for Asurion to come to my job 8/21 and they never did, when i went online i saw my apt was cancelled without notice and rescheduled. I finally call Asurion and while on the phone with a rep i get hung up on. It should not take 2 months to get a screen repair fix. I worked with UBreakIfix before and their service was outstanding, but since Asurion took over it has been a horrible experience one bad experience after another one.
NOW im told over the phone that my re-scheduled apt for tomorrow is going to be cancelled too. The Asurion Rep over the phone escalated the call to higher ups and they confirmed they dont have the parts need to fix and replace my screen. ITS A SAMNSUNG U22 ULTRA one of the most popular phones how do you not have the part to fix a phone when you are cell phone repair store???
WORSE SERVICE EVER!!!
i dont know what else to do - at this point calling AT&T and having change my phone due to the incompetence of Asurion would be the next step but i will lose all my data on my phone since the screen is broken and i access or see my screen.
BAD BAD HORRIBLE SERVICE - I doubt anyone from Asurion cares...
