I would not recommend this church. After one visit someone emailed me to ask how I could begin serving. This woman never asked how I was doing, what was happening in my life, if I needed prayer, or if I had any health, financial or other issues that could limit my ability to jump into service. It was as if she was on a mission to reel in a body to help the church with its myriad of physically and financially demanding activities.
I returned the boldness and told her about a problem I was struggling with and asked if she could refer someone who could help. She said she could not help because she didn’t personally know anyone. I asked if anyone else at the church might have a solution. She never offered to pray for me, never exhibited empathy for my plight and never contacted me again! Interesting how quickly this so-called Christian woman emailed me about service and disappeared just as quickly when I asked for help.
If your goal in life is to be used by a church who shows no empathy or concern about you as a person by all means visit this place. I was seeking a God-filled, compassionate, friendly and mutually beneficial church. Even though they had my email address, phone number and mailing address I never received any communication from this God-forsaken place! Every other church I have visited has displayed humanity by following up with an email, postcard, card, or letter acknowledging me as a person they were interested in seeing again. They never asked me to jump in and serve! Once Ward Church realized I would not be used they dropped me like hot coal!
A relationship with God doesn’t mean you allow yourself to be used by people (not God) who don’t even have the decency to show an ounce of compassion. For God’s sake at least acknowledge a one-time visitor is a human being by asking “how are you?” or “how are things going in your life?” before slamming them with a...

During the initial onset of the Pandemic, we really appreciated the many online service opportunities they offered. They replayed their Sunday services at 2pm, 4pm, and 6pm, if you were unable to log on to one of the morning services. This was SO very helpful! The beautiful music, the Bible readings, and even the participation of the kids acting out Bible stories, all from various homes, was such a joy to see. It must have taken a lot of hard work, but was beautifully put together for a very cohesive Sunday morning Worship experience - at a time when we couldn't gather together.
Also, during the early stages of the Pandemic last year, Pastor Scott had a nightly "reading of the Word" program that was done each night for a short period of time, as a way of keeping people of faith connected. That nightly event was a HUGE comfort to my son, who was living and working in another state when things were shut down, and he was unable to be with friends or family! ❤🙏❤
We really love Pastor Scott's enthusiasm, wit, and the way he delivers the messages. I've been to their in-person worship many times since they re-opened after the new year. It is such a blessing to see so many people back inside church singing, and worshipping our Lord together again!
Thank you Ward Presbyterian for your continued commitment to, and care for, the Community, these...
Read moreMy fiancé and I started attending Ward Church when we first started dating almost a year and a half ago. I was seeking a new church home, he was seeking his first church home. Home is what describes this church to us both. The sermons have given us great topics to talk about, we took a bible study class together, joined a small group and helped raise money to buy blankets for homeless, and we volunteered to paint at a duplex the church was fixing up in Detroit. We also have found friends along the way.
Ward Church has given us many opportunities to grow in our faith and service to others. No church is perfect, no people are perfect; but what we have found is a sense of belonging and community. It is important for us both to be able to question, read, and have open dialogue about the bible, our church, and our service to others. We are truly grateful for Ward Church and it's guidance in bringing us closer together, and...
