The other reviews raised my expectations too much, so I'm writing this to bring the reviews back down to earth. This is a nice restaurant for sure. But if you are at all expecting a high end, romantic, or special occasion type place I wouldn't bet on this Hyde Park.
I don't normally eat at steakhouses (since I don't eat steak or any meat other than fish), but I assumed based on the prices (and reviews) that this restaurant would be upscale. So, I made sure not to wear jeans, and though I didn't dress up for just a weeknight dinner I did put in a little effort to look stylish in some nice slacks and light makeup. I expected to be a little underdressed. I was not. Everyone that I could see was dressed pretty casually and one women even had on light colored jeans and a t-shirt. She wasn't sloppy by any means, she just looked like she was heading to Target. (And that's her right, I'm just painting the picture of the atmosphere and crowd.) That same woman and her male dinner partner had an 8-10 y/o child with them. So, basically they showed up at Hyde Park like it was a Denny's. The child was well behaved other than constantly wet coughing with his mouth open. Nevertheless, to me the presence of children creates a vibe that is far from grown and sophisticated. (I should have known when I saw the kids menu :/.)
I was very impressed when I walked in and was warmly greeted by everyone at the front desk. I was accommodated with a nice cozy booth without having to ask, even though I was dining alone. And, at one point the manager came over to check on me and introduce himself. Great service in these regards. Other than that, the service was just ok and even a little underwhelming. My server was cordial, but not overly friendly nor accommodating. When she brought my food, she just sat it in front of me without saying anything (like "here you go" or "salmon with..."). I did get the standard "Do you need anything else" and the check-in about 10 mins into my meal. But where she lost me was about 20 mins in as I was not even 1/4 through my food, she came and asked if I wanted boxes or if I was "still working on it". I told her to bring the boxes but that was still eating. I checked my clock and it was only 8:30 p.m. (why was she rushing me?). Up until then I had been enjoying my meal, my book and my me time. But, now I was very aware that she was ready for me to clear out. I still took my time and if I wasn't stuffed I would have stayed until closing just to prove a point. But around 8:45 I couldn't eat another bite and I did have to get home. So, I started boxing up and like a vulture she came and started clearing my dishes - almost as I was setting them down. Then another waiter whom I hadn't seen all evening came and started clearing my table as well. I have never felt so rushed and low key unwelcome in what is supposed to be a nice restaurant.
All in all, I don't think I'll run back to this restaurant. The food was delicious and fresh (hence the 4 stars), but not worth the price and nothing I can't make myself (I paid $42 for 8 oz of what I'm sure was Atlantic farmed salmon, over $50 for $10 worth of sides and another arm and leg for bottled water and ginger ale). I knew the price point going in, so I rationalized that I'd be paying for the ambiance, service and "specialness". But, the ambiance is casual, the table service was just above bad and there was nothing special about the experience. So, it's just not...
Read moreMy spouse and I celebrated our anniversary at Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse last night, and I cannot say enough about the extraordinary experience we had. As newcomers to Northville, this was our first visit to the restaurant, and it certainly won’t be our last.
From the moment we walked through the doors, the level of service was impeccable. Our server and the entire team, led by manager Chuck and team member Marissa, went above and beyond to make our anniversary celebration truly special. Their attention to detail and genuine care for creating a memorable evening was evident in every interaction.
The evening began with expertly crafted cocktails that set the perfect tone for our celebration. Each drink was beautifully presented and masterfully balanced, showcasing the skill of their bartending team. The quality of ingredients and attention to presentation immediately impressed us.
The dinner itself was nothing short of spectacular. Every dish was prepared to perfection, with the food cooked exactly to our specifications and sides that complemented the meal beautifully. The quality of the ingredients was evident in every bite, and the presentation was restaurant-quality at its finest. You can truly taste the care and expertise that goes into every plate.
What truly set this experience apart were the special touches that Marissa, Chuck, and the entire waitstaff arranged for our anniversary. We were genuinely moved to receive a signed card from the entire waitstaff - such a thoughtful gesture that showed how much they care about their guests’ special moments. The complimentary dessert was not only delicious but beautifully presented, making the perfect end to our meal.
The entire staff demonstrated exceptional hospitality throughout the evening. Marissa and Chuck, in particular, checked on us multiple times to ensure everything was perfect, and their genuine enthusiasm for making our anniversary special was heartwarming. It’s rare to find a team so dedicated to creating memorable experiences for their guests.

Read moreI have been to the Northville location several times and will say that it is not a place I really care for. (I only go because my husband likes it, for some reason.) We have had a couple of steaks and I must say that, although they are tender, they lack in quality seasoning. Pretty much everything that I have had is rather heavy handed on the salt. I am a salt lover, so when I suggest something is overly salty, that is really saying something. I've had a lot of French onion soup and theirs is nothing to brag about and certainly not worth $13 - at one time it was salty, at another time it was watered down. I have had the lobster bisque - great flavor, but again, rather heavy on the salt, therefore not as enjoyable as it could have been. The first steak we had ever tried was a Stafford steak, and sadly it was rather underwhelming in flavor. We have had the twin filets and they too were underwhelming. Recently, my husband ordered the filet and lobster tails ( 6oz filet) and I ordered the regular 8oz filet. Why did they taste so different? Mine was very uneventful and a bit dry in texture, and his was moist and had more flavor, so we switched. I ordered a medium rare and it was closer to a medium; I added a sauce on the side and it was so incredibly salty I could not eat it! Fortunately I dipped a piece instead of pouring it directly on the filet. One of the managers is very arrogant and at one time was actually rude, when I asked why we had to fill out a tracking form. He looked at me as though that was a ridiculous question and said that it was mandated by the governor. Then I simply stated that they were the only ones who were doing that, and he said well, then they are not adhering to the governor's mandate. Then went on to say that "WE" are of a higher standard than most restaurants." This remark was said in such a way that suggested we were not the type of people who frequented their caliber of establishment. He further said that we didn't have to sign the tracking and could just go somewhere else! WE are of the caliber that frequent MANY high end restaurants but are not pretentious enough as to attempt any profiling or assume others are beneath us. The only saving grace at this location is one of the managers, Louis, and the cocktails. The ambiance is also nice. In summary: Cons: Food is overly salty and many things lack flavor; a manager is arrogant and rude; extremely overpriced for the average taste! Pros: Manager Louis...
