This hotel was a mixed bag. The bad news first: The physical condition was bordering on dumpy and in desperate need of an upgrade. The pool and the ice machine were both out of order with no sign that repairs were scheduled. A bunch of broken dishwashers, air conditioners and other discarded appliances were strewn around the back parking and created a makeshift appliance graveyard. The doors to the rooms and within the suites were warped and didn't close properly without being pulled/forced very hard, and the carpet was dingy and stained. To add insult to injury, they recently started charging a small, per-night parking fee for a suburban hotel where the parking lot was only half full. This seems like a petty money grab. I understand paying a parking fee in a city hotel with valet parking and limited space. But this seemed uncharacteristic of other Marriott properties of this type and like we were being nickled and dimed. |The good news: The beds were comfortable; the appliances in the room were in working order and the room, which was not by any means luxurious, was stocked with the basic items we needed for a pleasant two-night stay. The lobby was comfortable and clean, and the hot/cold breakfast array and service exceeded our expectations. In fact, what really made this stay okay was the amazing staff that somehow keeps this place going despite what seems like the facility breaking down around them. Big shout out to Keera, Kizmet, and Kim -- who were outstanding and made up for the other issues. Keera was knowledgeable and friendly and made check-in very frictionless and pleasant. Kizmet was the unsung hero of the breakfast service! Friendly and efficient and kept the breakfast area and lobby seating attractive, clean and well-stocked. Best breakfast experience we've had at a Marriott hotel! Last but not least, Kim was extremely helpful in helping us understand the charges and my bill when I was checking out. Overall, the super-nice staff made up for the facility shortcomings at this hotel. I'd give it a higher rating if management got all the amenities working, cleaned up the property and upgraded the rooms. Staff we interacted with were all great! I cannot say enough good things about them. C+ for facility,...
Read moreHorrible. That's the best word I can use to describe our experience at this hotel. I've got a very bad knee and can't move around much without pain. We checked into this hotel and unpacked everything in the room. Took us about 20 min. After a long 7 hour drive, we laid down to relax for a few minutes. All of a sudden we heard a very loud hornlike noise coming from next door that would not stop. It was constant. We called the front desk and she said she would send someone. After 5 min. my husband opened the door and flagged down housekeeping to see the noise. They said they would look into it. After 15 min of no reply from anyone, I got up, walked through my building and to the main building where i was met by Mel at the front desk. Let's just say that she is one of the worst people I've ever encountered. Horrible! Horrible! Horrible. She was not understanding at all. She said, we can change your room because apparently we were next to the boiler room. The room would involve significant walking. I explained my situation and she said, "well, what do you want me to do" "that's all I can do" She was extremely rude and I asked for a manager, she said that there was no one above her. I asked to get moved to the Renaissance across the parking lot. She said, "sorry, if you do that, you will have to pay again, no refunds" I called customer service from the lobby after Megan, housekeeping manager, took me and sat me down seeing that I was in pain. They accommodated me at the Renaissance and we packed up our stuff and went there. Mel should not be in any capacity where she needs to deal with people. Extremely rude and did not care what was going on with us or our room. We've stayed at the TownPlace Suites many times in the past. Always a great experience. After this experience, I don't think I will return to any of your locations. I was in pain for the rest of the night due to the standing, walking and lugging our stuff from place to place. We came into town for a wedding and couldn't make it to the rehearsal that night. It was very upsetting that I was in so much pain that I couldn't stand and go to my...
Read moreI was in town for a three day business trip. When I got there, it took about twenty minutes to check in. The hotel seemed understaffed. Really, I think there was one person running the entire place.
After I returned from work the following day, I needed to work on a few things before the next day. To my surprise, the internet wasn't working. I tried calling the front desk and for a good ten minutes no one was picking. I finally decided to call from my mobile phone and after the second ring, the woman at the front desk picked up. After I told her I was a guest and my room number, I asked why she didn't pick up and she replied I figured you were calling about the internet. REALLY???? She was correct. The response I was given was she needed to go to the other building to reset the system, but could not go because she was the only one working. WORST HOTEL!!! The internet was never fixed that night. The following day, I returned from work a little after 9:00 to find my room wasn't refreshed by housekeeping. I had no towels, nothing. I once again called the front desk and was told to hold on while she checked the room list from housekeeping. The response I received was "yeah, it looks like they skipped ya few rooms including yours and they left for the day." I am waiting on the phone for a remedy and was finally asked if there was anything else I needed... I don't know what is wrong with this property and what Marriott is thinking, but this place is in desperate need of help. I finally asked for a clean set of towels and couldn't wait to check out the next day. To add insult to injury, I did receive a letter stating that the internet was undergoing repairs and would be unaccessible until further notice....
