As a first-timer in my 20s, it was a good experience. I received a voucher for 10 flights (10 minutes = 5 times in the tunnel for 2 minutes with breaks in between to watch and correct your form based on that flight's video), but, as I stated, I've never been there before. The coach, Obi, was friendly and helpful throughout the whole process, from sitting me down for the instructional video to walking me through what we would be covering to correcting my form in the wind tunnel. I had some difficulty pulling the helmet's visor up, but Obi stepped in and lifted it for me almost every time. Afterward, when I forgot the combination for the free lockers they have for your personal belongings, he was happy to unlock it for me.
My only complaint is in regards to the website and videos. I couldn't redeem my voucher or retrieve my videos (they put me under the wrong time and name). The videos also weren't stopped when we left the tunnel, so there were several minutes in the video that contained an empty wind tunnel. The videos also arrived out of order somehow, so I spent a few hours piecing them together in one big video using an app I found on Google Play for free.
I wish there were warnings about what flyers might feel after their flights. I first felt pain in my lower back until I sat in the bathroom. That's when my arms became too heavy to lift on their own. I had to lift one arm with the other's hand until I got to my car. Once in the car, my arms were a little less heavy, but as I was driving, I was hit with a wave of nausea. After an hour of driving, I got out of the car, and my knees were heavily bruised from the nets. A day later, I still feel the dull-to-sharp pain in my knees, and my hips feel stiff.
Oh, by the way, the QR codes on the walls don't work. When I scanned them, they took me to a blank page or my notes app with a weird code on it. I wish I could have seen the videos of the tricks that were described on the wall while I was waiting. I might have been more prepped for my...
Read moreThe staff and the facility were great. The staff was friendly and really made you feel welcomed (the upselling techniques were a bit much). The equipment was clean, looked new, and fit well.
The negative, extremely underwhelming especially for the price point. I took my son and we each did two flights with each of us having one "high" flight. The cost was about 150 dollars. DO NOT expect to fly around like you see in the videos or pictures. 1st flight the instructor cradles you in their arms for the entire flight while they are standing (which is only 1 minute per flight) and you never get higher than shoulder height unless you pay for the upgrade. 2nd flights starts off like the first but a second instructor comes in and 100% under their control you fly up to the higher level (if you paid for the upgrade) which I guess is about 10-15 feet high.
If you want to learn/try any of the fun stuff you see in the videos you will have to purchase a package for that and those packages are conveniently available to you during the post flight upsell. And the price point for the upsell package is only good until you leave the building. I was extremely disappointed in the flight times, I am not sure what i expected but 1 minute was not it. After the experience I looked through all the flight packages and none of them specify the flight time. I found the flight time in the FAQ section of the website towards the bottom of the page. I will let you assume why the flight time information is there and not CLEARLY POSTED ON...
Read moreWe had an outstanding experience from the moment I walked into Ifly's facility in Novi until the completion of a instructional program designed for kids. To begin, Rami Helmi (General Manager) greeted like a host of a party would to a home I have never been to before and answered all my questions and concerns about purchasing a package for my 5 year old grandson. Rami took me for a tour and made his recommendations along with providing me an easy way to reach out by email.
Secondly, on instruction day: Marianne and Ariel were the instructors. We watched while they provided very enthusiastic and guided instructions to the kids. Jack (my grandson) was particularity attached to Ariel. He hung on to him as his safety blanket and immediately had a trust relationship established. Both instructors were amazing. Ariel in particular had a special way to talking to young people and formed a bond. My husband, my son and my daughter in law were very impressed. Even my 2.5 year old grand daughter was listening intently and would have joined in had she been old enough.
I am 61 and plan to sign up with some friends as well. It's a beautiful experience and the IFly team operate like a family.
Have Fun, Sincerely, Maria...
