Ugh, where to begin?
I will start by saying that I love Michael's, and I love their products. So, when they were offering a sale on Christmas trees, with free delivery, and my office needed one, I convinced my boss that we should do that.
What I didn't know was that they use InstaCart for their deliveries. I even opted to pay more for a sooner delivery, and a tip for the driver. Didn't seem to matter though... my order, placed at 9:15 AM, still wasn't there by 5 PM, and I stayed until 7:30 waiting. I ended up calling the store itself and arranging to pick it up myself.
The manager was lovely and helpful, but the store was in disarray, and I could hear her explaining to an employee over her headset how they should do their job. Step by step. Things that were just common sense. She looked tired, but still managed to smile and take good care of her customers.
I picked up my tree and figured I'd call Michael's the next day for the refund of my delivery fee and driver's tip. I settled in for the evening.
At 9 PM I got a phone call from an InstaCart driver asking me if she was at the right building. I told her I already picked up the tree and left. She seemed surprised.
What confused me was if the location knew I had picked up the tree, why did they give another one to the driver?

The cashier made sure she greeted and made eye contact with the white lady in front of me in line. When my son and I stepped up the register she did not make eye contract or greet us. She made sure she asked if I had a rewards card. I told her I don't shop there much to need a rewards card while thinking I definitely would not after her racist ways.
