My wife and I decided to go see Black Panther but didn't realize how long the journey would be to actually find the theater. We parked outside the parking garage of Oakbrook Mall and made our way up the escalators inside the parking garage. Upon entering AMC, we were told to show our tickets to a girl positioned in the middle of the giant hall. Once scanned, we were told to leave the building, find the orange parking lot and go down one floor. We did and found another parking garage. So we walked all the way to the ground floor and made our way around to where most of the restaurants are. During this whole fiasco, none of the elevators worked, nor was there a sign directing you to a second AMC. We continued, heading up a hill, where you can see the restaurant Antico Posto straight ahead and what do we see to the right? AMC. Again we walk through the double doors to find a parking garage. No signs telling us where this building actually is. So we walked back out. We ask a random person, they don't know where it is. We go inside Mario Tricoci and ask a lady at the front counter, she doesn't know where it is. At this point, I assumed Ashton Kutcher would pop out and tell me I was being "Punk'd!" How could no one know where this building is? So my wife and I continued on and decided to walk down to the lower level again and stumbled upon the AMC tucked away in the corner, again, with no signage pointing you in the right direction. We walked in and waited in line at the counter. No one helped us out to scan our tickets. So we just walked into the theater and found our seats in the dark because at this point we were late for the movie. Which tells me, if you're looking to see a movie for free, this is the spot, because no one cares enough to take your ticket. We had recliner seats but it took a good ten minutes to figure out how to recline them because we arrived late and couldn't see the buttons on the inside of the chair. Black Panther was good but the experience was garbage. Why the hell is there two AMC theaters in one location? And if you're going to do this, please make it easier for your customers to find the second building. I will never see a...
Read moreI had my first and hopefully last experience at this theater today. I had to drive around a while to find parking. 2 of the doors were locked and a 3rd had yellow tape. I walk into the atrium and two kiosks were hooked up all weird and no employee in sight to help an elderly couple. No one to greet me and scan my ticket. I literally just walked into the theater and sat down. By this time it was 5 minutes past the start time for the movie and the screen was just black. Cool, I have time to get popcorn and a drink. I go out one lady takes my order then starts hitting the register and yells for someone to help her turn it on. Another girl offers to take my order. This girl then tells me that I better order larger if I plan on getting a refill because they are closing the concessions in 25 min. Butter and soda machines were on opposite ends of the atrium. I butter my popcorn first, then fill my soda because the soda was next to my theater. I fill my drink only to realize the only straws were back by the butter. By this time it's 15 past the movie start time and it's still a black screen. I say something to the girl at concessions.... they then say, sorry for the delay show will start in 10 and they will skip the previews. 5 min later they say sorry we won't be playing a movie but here is a voucher. Problem is I have the amc pass so now I can't reserve a seat at another theater near by because it's already 730pm and I have to wait 90min to see a show. They did refund my...
Read moreI do enjoy going to this theater, which is why I am leaving a review, because I believe it could be great with a little love.
First, there's basically no one ever here, but it's always pretty nasty. We went to a big Pixar movie release and there were a total of 7 people in the theater, including us. We got to our assigned seats and they were covered in trash and some kind of sticky substance, but luckily we were able to move down since no one else was there. The seats we moved to had rips in the fabric as well. I saw the couple in front of us sit down, realize the recliners didn't work, and change seats as well.
The bathrooms are fairly grungy. The men's wasn't too terrible but my girlfriend doesn't like to use the women's because she says it is so gross. This is kind of weird since no one is in the building and all the employees are scrolling through their phones with no one in line at the concessions.
I paid extra to go to a 3D movie, which I haven't went to in a long time, and the 3D didn't work. We had new pairs of glasses and the screen looked the exact same with or without the glasses. I'm not sure if that was an issue with the theater or the movie, but with the lack of detail this theater puts into other areas, I would be willing to guess it's an issue with the theater.
Overall, I believe this theater could be greatly improved with a little...
