Molly's Cupcakes used to be good. In the past year though, it seems like the quality has gone down. The cupcakes seem smaller than I remember. They also now seem dry and crumble apart when you take the wrapper off. The frosting also has more of a waxy feel and taste to it now. Maybe it's a difference in location though since I used to order my Molly's Cupcakes from in Chicago instead of Oakbrook.
I bought cupcakes from this location for a graduation. The strawberry shortcake cupcake didn't have a strawberry on top and no strawberry filling. There was nothing strawberry. I felt sad for the grad because the strawberry shortcake was specifically for her since she loves strawberries. When I called the Oakbrook location, the store lead was empathetic. She offered for me to get a free cupcake during her shift, but I live 30 minutes away. I wasn't going to go back for a cupcake during her shift. She spoke to her manager to see what else could be done. He seemed to imply there's nothing else that could be done because I apparently couldn't prove anything because I didn't have a receipt. I had my debit card transaction history showing I bought cupcakes and that apparently isn't enough. I asked if I could speak to a manager and I was informed the onlt time the manager goes to the store is only in the morning during delivery drop off. I asked the store lead to have the manager called me. He never did. I sent an email for Molly's Cupcakes and there was no response. I sent an Instagram message and no response. I would have accepted store credit for a cupcake in the future, but that couldn't be done. So instead, I won't be returning to Molly's Cupcakes and everyone who saw what happened at the Graduation party also will not be going to Molly's Cupcakes again. All over a simple cupcake mistake that management didn't care to correct. The worker at the location was very kind, but management has completely changed the way people in my life see the...
Read moreYum. I'm not easily impressed with a lot of chain bakeries. Most taste pretty commercial and average. But these were great. I've had them before when someone bought a dozen to share with me from their downtown Chicago location. Every one I tasted was incredible.
At the Oak Brook location, I had a chocolate cupcake, with chocolate ganache and chocolate buttercream. Every bite was heavenly.
Yes, the cupcakes are expensive, but so worth it. Unfortunately, the person who helped us wasn't all that friendly and seemed irritated that we were interrupting her conversation with a coworker.
I was there with a friend, and we both were paying for our items separately. She never asked and seemed a little irritated when she had to repackage our cupcakes separately.
5 star place, except for poor customer service. Glad that they aren't closer to my house or I would be broke and...
Read moreAmazing cupcakes!!!!! Truly amazing!!!! The people are honest about what kinds are better than others or if some are too sweet or too rich. I agree that they are overpriced and one of my cupcakes the frosting was on one side of the cupcake and not in the center or glided all around. I pay attention to details. Especially with the price. The price is high. A little disappointed how the frosting for the white chocolate raspberry had a mark on it when they picked it up. So when I went to take a picture i had to do it at an angle. I pay attention to details. I know everyone of them isn’t going to be absolutely perfect. But if that was my shop and I’m charging that much I wouldn’t settle to serve...
