Skate A Way South — Attraction in Ocala

High school prime hang out spot. Though, I'm 28 and personally dont care how many teens are out here. It actually makes me happy to see roller skating get carried on into the next generation and not die out because hoverboards and stuff like that are cooler or more fun/modern. There is a officer on duty, inside and you can't come back in for any reason like you forgot something; you will need to pay again. Staff is very kind as well, I can see myself coming back. The skate rink itself is personally one of the smallest ones I've seen especially the one in Gainesville(Skate Station Funworks) is double the size of this rink quite literally, but the place itself is very nice, color visuals are pretty. I came on Friday night and had fun, though they should consider opening the party section area when it gets so crowded like it does on the weekends. If you are a parent with young children under 14 then you should go around noon time rather than at night where the teenage speed skaters come in massive groups. It feels very safe overall, its a fun environment and it is well take care of. Though, please consider renovating the steps that go into the rink, the carpet and the rubber on the steps are torn up and difficult to navigate safely when you are going a certain speed to get off the rink with skates on is my only concern of the whole...

My kids love Skate A Way South! As a parent I feel like my kids are safe here which is very important to me! A police officer stays inside the building during the night sessions. Great music and games. My whole family loves the fries, pretzels and boiled peanuts! Feels so much cleaner than other rinks we've been to. The staff is friendly and fun. Especially the ladies in the food area! We recently had a private party here for my child's birthday and it was so much fun! The DJ was great, playing all the songs we requested. The games were fun! Plenty of space for food. Cleanup was a breeze. It is nice having somewhere to have a party where you don't have to worry about the nasty Florida Heat! The Friday night shuffle classes are awesome. My kids are learning all kinds of cool jam skate tricks! It's awesome that the owner supports the homeschool community also by offering homeschool skates on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays during the school year. Can't wait for summer...

Here's my reason for two stars, There's four speakers One does not work, one speaker is blown you can hear the crackling, and the only two speaker that works is over the DJ and across from the DJ, The skating wall is so dirty it looks like it's been shaded, the center of the floor you can feel a lot of the wood you can also hear it in other people's wheels, The roller skating rink is small, I'm used to ranks of the size of a ice rink, I've noticed that there was a roller derby track on the floor, with an ice skating rink I can place two flat track Derby rank, I saw three video games out of order, when I first walked in I was unable to find the locker, the locker is tucked away in a corner with a bathroom is at, it's disappointing that you cannot roller skate and keep an eye on your locker, The biggest issue I had was the floor, when you go from the snack bar to the roller skating floor, there's so many steps to get to the roller...
