My wife and I are snowbirds and are heading home the end of the week. Both of us enjoy buffalo wings and usually have them at least once a month. We have driven passed this restaurant for the last two years heading to our go-to place for wings in Ocala, a few blocks down the road. Since neither of us have eaten at a WingHouse the "25 Percent off of food purchased on the 25th" was the lure for me to give this place a try. My wife likes to check out a restaurant's reviews before we try their venue. The first review she read was bad, but the next two were rated five stars. Maybe the bad rating was an isolated incident regarding a single issue. I prefer to rate each portion of our visit separately.
Our order consisted of two beers, a buffalo cauliflower appetizer which we split, and each of us had an order of buffalo shrimp and an order of buffalo boneless wings.
My ratings are as follows:
Appearance - 5 Stars. Bright and clean, (didn't use the restrooms so they get no rating.)
Buffalo Cauliflower - 5 Stars. Very good. Neither of us had had these before. My wife said she would eat a double order as a meal next year.
Buffalo Shrimp - 3 Stars. Nothing really special, not bad, not something I would order again.
Buffalo Boneless Chicken - 2 Stars. Menu picture showed bone-in-wings with tips on. Tips on makes a basket look fuller, but, doesn't provide much more to eat. Decided to go with the boneless wings. A bit dry, not tasty like bone-in-wings. Will not order again here or anywhere.
Service - 3 Stars. Waitress was prompt and did check on us frequently. Other issues decreased her rating. Served appetizer before providing utensils and plates, had to make a return trip for those items. Settling the bill was an issue. The waitress brought me the bill and asked if it was correct. I looked it over (two beers, an appetizer, two shrimp orders, and two chicken orders) it was what we ordered so I said it was correct. She gave me a card receipt to sign. I looked at the total ($63.27) to compute a tip amount. Quick head math, $64.00 less tax $4.00 = $60.00. Twenty percent of $60.00 (2x$6 = $12) I was going to add this to the bill, but, stopped when I didn't see a 25% reduction in the food price. I waited for the waitress to reappear. I asked her about the 25% off. She said she forgot to include it, but, that I said it was correct so I needed to sign the receipt. Quick head math again, 25% of $50 for food items equals $12.50. That was about the amount her tip was going to be so I told her I wasn't including a tip, she could take her tip out of the 25% off that she did not have on our bill. My wife and I left. When we got to the door I saw her talking to whom i assumed was the manager. I waved and and said good bye to them. On the way to the car my wife said she thinks that forgetting was intentional. Young guys drinking beer and looking at young waitresses probably wouldn't notice the 25% off omission.
Management - 5 Stars. As we were driving off the manger flagged us down in the parking lot. We discussed the bill issue. He was very apologetic and offered numerous times to go back in and correct our charge payment. I told him he didn't need to do that and 25% off was the waitresses tip. I also told him a couple of times I vote with my feet (which means we'll walk right pass this place next winter).
Next winter I may have to call in a to-go order just for the buffalo cauliflower for my wife, but, we will not be dining in again or ordering...
Read moreI went into this store to do a doordash order around 11 pm a month or so ago after working a 12 hour shift running a sales floor. Waited for a good 10 minutes before a younger, small helpful blonde (wish I had her name because she was great, and actually tried to help), who was leaving, asked a bartender named Savanah to help me.
I don't know if they were short-handed or what, but as soon as the smaller younger lady left, Savanah went on to run her loud mouth to her bar tabs about how she can't stand that girl, who was actually doing her job, and how maybe she should go be a "little doordasher" because she don't like leaving her bar tabs that are the only thing paying her bills for half a second to help anyone else. She went on and on, cursing the helpful girl and delivery services (that are taking paid for orders to loyal customers).
Extremely rude, disrespectful, and all around bad for business. This "little doordasher" has a BAS degree in business and organizational management, and a full-time job running a sales floor. I don't need to do doordash to pay my bills, and I damn sure don't have to do it scantily clothed in my late 30s. I won't take your order now, nor will I eat or drink there now either. Also, I will continue to go out of my way to let everyone else know what kind of garbage is working up there, and who they should avoid if they find themselves there in an unfortunate situation.
Usually, workers do what is best for the business, because the business is employing them and bringing those tipping customers in front of them. People getting their food delivered, are paying customers that likely go there and eat/drink often as well. Probably have tipped the loud...
Read moreWent to a car show nearby and as a group of 16 people we decided we wanted to eat. We chose The Wing House over Hooters and that was our first mistake. We get there and they tell us it will be a few minutes. That was ok we're a big group. Our waitress came over never introduced herself started taking our orders then disappeared. Random waitresses brought out the drinks and had to ask us who had what. It was the same when the food came out. They just put food down on the table and walked away. Most of our food was cold. One of our people had his food remade 5 times and he just had them put it in a box to go. When we were paying the bill my husband asked one of the girls a question and she was nasty to him. I walked to the bar and asked one of the girls what our waitress and the other one's names were. She walked over and told another girl about it and then called the one I was asking about over and told her. She made a remark about we just wanted to complain about the food. Then the one at the bar looks at me and tells me she doesn't know there names. Anyway to end this . Spoke to a manager and he listened took the burger that had to be made 5 times off the bill and I still can't tell you what anyone's names are. None of us will ever go back and we will let everyone we know this place was horrible. I get it everyone is short staffed and I am understanding but there was just so much wrong. We had to get our own condiments and straws and the place wasn't packed and they seated us next to the basketball game and pool tables. There is so much more that I could put in here but I think this is long enough. This was just all around a horrible experience. If I could have left no stars...
