Learn moreAlthough I have been to Ocean City many times over the last 60 years. I had no idea that it had such a wonderful league of artists and such a beautiful way of showcasing them. I am so pleased at the new building for the Art league of Ocean city. Everything is new and crisp. It was built from the love of arts. It’s huge with two floors of galleries and workshops. A number of classrooms and offices. Clean restrooms and a spectacular view. After finding it and enjoying the gallery we signed up for a glass. The sign-up for classes was easy. We did it in person but it could be done on the phone or on their beautifully designed website. We enjoyed the two hour fused glass class. The instructor was very fun and informative. Actually we were the only two in the class. Assuming because it’s summer people have other plans. It was like a private class. They have a schedule on their website of all the classes and events, as well as a Facebook Page of past events. You can find many types of arts, from glass, ceramic, painting to jewelry, simple clothing, & greeting cards. Their small gift shop area had unique finds. This will definitely be a go to stop whenever we are on the...
Read moreWe love going to "First Friday's"- on the first Friday of the month admission is free from 5pm to 7pm. You can look at all the paintings and artwork. There is usually a local restaurant handing out some samples of their appetizers, sometimes wine and ice water. There may be a small donation for special food or drink. There are also trays scattered around the gallery with strawberries, grapes, cheese and crackers. These "Friday's" usually showcase a local artist and their works along with works from local residents.
There are art classes and seminars offered. Discounted prices on classes for members. There is a ceramics studio for those who want to learn different techniques in clay as well as pottery wheels. Some regular artists have their own studios that you can explore.
First Friday can be cramped for parking. There is a small parking lot that extends past the tennis courts and there is extra parking on the street, but these fill up fast. One tip is to park in the back area of the shopping center parking lot near the tennis courts/water tower. Then you have an easy walk around the tennis courts to the art league's front door.

Read moreOne does not have to be a resident of Ocean City to become a member of the Art League of Ocean City. My name is Miss Denise and I am from the other side of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge in Northwest Baltimore County. The photo you see of the back of the Art Center is its estuary that lets me, an environmental activist and artist, know the health of this particular Estuary of the Chesapeake Bay. There is much to see and learn just by standing at the pier looking down and looking out! As far as the art, on the First Friday of every month new artists are introduced to the community because each month there is a different theme that artists must submit their work on and our juried and selected to be shown. I hope to one day be amongst those artists. And you can be too! Visit the front desk and tell them Miss Denise sent you and you would like to become a member. You get access to all sorts of things and even online activities. It's worth the price! And...
