First time in Ocean City, Maryland. My friends & I came across this bartender Alyssa. Super chill towards the beginning but after we have gotten a couple drinks she said we had to start a tab with a credit card. We gave her a card & she held onto it, cool no problem.
The bar did a last call & we decided to do 1 more round of drinks & grab our check. This is when things started going downhill. Wonderful Alyssa, probably on her 6th or 10th shot in tells us that we never gave her our card & that she doesn’t hold credit cards behind the bar, starts arguing with us & gets loud because she’s so drunk that she doesn’t remember taking our card. A older couple next to us heard us asking for our card & realized he hasn’t gotten back his card either from Alyssa. The older gentleman was pretty pissed off that he’s been waiting for his check for 20 minutes & starts telling Alyssa that she’s drunk. Alyssa starts to get defensive & starts cursing out the older gentlemen.
Our cards finally reappear found by Patty the barback. Shout out to Patty;he was really cool & understood how we were feeling. Ben also was really professional at deescalating the situation
We grab our cards & when the older couple is leaving Alyssa starts using profanity with the older couple; even though she was the wrong, while they are walking out the door. We look at our check & Alyssa has charged us with drinks that we never received. After a little back & forth we finally got our drinks that we ordered during last call.
For our first time in Ocean City; visiting from NYC, Ally made our night super uncomfortable with her unprofessionalism & will never come back to Bull on the Beach if she still works there. Beautiful restaurant/bar but if you get introduced by Alyssa you should probably run...
Read moreI have wanted to come here for many years! Tonight was the night!. They have plenty of parking and it’s located one block from the beach. My party of three were seated in a back dining area with very large comfortable booth tables. The wall art/ decor is all Bull oriented with some interesting pieces. Overall it has the atmosphere of an old steakhouse in a very good way. I ordered the French onion soup and I cannot sing its praises high enough. The broth was rich, thicker than most and flavored perfectly. Plenty of melted tasty cheese and caramelized onions. Served at perfect edible temperature. One of the best I have eaten, Heaven! I had to have the hot beef and gravy as I saw it walking in on another diner’s table. It was delicious and exceeded my expectations. The tender beef cooked to my order specs then thinly sliced and piled high on a piece of thick white toast. Smothered with a thick beefy hot gravy served with my choice of fries also gravied. My food was at the temperature all hot food should be served- hot! Made it so much more enjoyable. I just about licked my plate! LOL! My dining companions enjoyed their meals of the abundant chef salad with the ham, turkey and roast beef piled high. The combo sandwich with ham and beef with a pasta salad side. Only complaint was the the roll and a bit too much vinegar in the pasta salad. For dessert a hot Blondie cookie/brownie combo served with vanilla ice cream chocolate sauce and whipped cream. The unsweetened iced tea was good too. Our server who had several tables come in was great! Very attentive. My new favorite place in OC. Tip:The bar area is a Baltimore Orioles shrine. Sis and me walked in wearing our NY Yankee shirts- pure...
Read moreThe great parts: Our service was absolutely fantastic. Our server was incredibly efficient and on top of all aspects of our needs as well as the needs of her other tables. The fried shrimp and mussels were outstanding. The bad parts: There was a bug in my grapefruit crush. There was hair wrapped around my husband’s ribs that he had to pick out out of his mouth. The mashed potatoes were Gelatinous. The bathrooms smell like a very strong, rotten pine tree. The entire restaurant could’ve been cleaner. Only one person behind the line in the kitchen was wearing a hat or added a coverage of their hair. The worst part of it all was, I felt absolutely terrible for our server. She seemed to work in complete fear of the management, especially the kitchen. I asked her if my daughter could have a small side of cucumbers and tomatoes with a little bit of shredded cheese from the kitchen. She looked terrified when I asked her and told me that it all depended on the kitchen. I asked her to elaborate and she said that it depends on what kind of mood they’re in, and she didn’t want them to get angry with her. Then she said that the manager that gets the most angry about special requests was about to leave. She then brought us a little bowl with a few cucumbers and tomatoes with a sprinkle of cheese and told us that she had to sneak it. We did of course pay for it.
Our server was a gem, and I refuse to leave her name because I fear that she will be reprimanded. Hospitality should flow in all directions, and if the staff were able to work without fear, imagine what amazing things this business could accomplish. Our server went out of her way to display true...
