Food Lion — Attraction in Ocean City

This Store needs to step up it's game, compared to other locations. It would be easier to explain what's lacking than what they exceed at and I just have that kind of time.... suffice to say, I'm a local and have to shop here because no alternatives exist aside From ACME, which is superior but way more expensive. What I like are the fair prices.....What I dislike, are the limited amount of brand selections, limited meat selections, limited prepared food selections, substandard produce selection (both quality and diversity). However, mostly I've come to accept all this after 15 years. What really aggravates Me now is the self check out..... Adding insult to Injury...Nobody that lives in OC Full-time wants "self check out"....they are either retired or are service workers, generally speaking, and neither crowd wants additional work... FOOD LION, go shop at ACME....then implement some of that, minus the higher prices....also hire more Cashier's. Thanks!

UPDATE: 8/30/2025 Since my last Post, it appears that this Location is trying to do better. Specifically, Better staffing, improved variety/options in Meat Department (including fresh whole fish-including RockFish!!!- However- PLEASE offer fillet options!!) The Produce Department is also a bit improved- such as fresh diced garlic instead of canned/jar.

HOWEVER- EVEN WITH these changes, there is more work to be done. ESPECIALLY With MANAGEMENT's idea of Staffing and scheduling for stocking shelves during the DAY and/or rush hours. What happened to stocking shelves overnight? And even if stock/shelf replenishment is needed during extreme rush hours, kindly get your associates to get out of the way with their stocking carts so customers can shop and move through the store. Worst food lion I’ve ever been to. The care for customers is absolutely ridiculous. No ones even smiles your way, and the other employees act as if they don’t want to help anybody. They would not return a product that I bought a few days ago. Claiming that $25 was too high for a return. Two chargers, I could not return. Never in the past have I had a problem like this. It was the older lady, I believe the manager; she was the most unhelpful and cold person I’ve dealt with in this industry. I don’t even understand why I was treated this way. There was also giving an older lady in front of me a problem for 11 CENTS, I kid you not, she got overcharged for something and wanted the 11 cent difference. She claimed she spent 30 minutes in the store dealing with it from the deli to customer service. she was very unhappy as well. I can tell the treatment made her come out of character bc she seemed very sweet. How can you be like that towards people who don’t want to cause any problems. Never coming to this food lion again if I can help it, regardless of it being close to my neighborhood. And I will tell others not to shop...
