Okay now, 1st I'm going to talk "RV Park" ... as far as "RV Parks" go, Paradise by the Sea is very clean, well organized, SAFE & SECURE. The spaces are clean, the hookup equipment in top condition. Note: the spaces are not private at all and there are no fences or even that much distance between them. So if you want a 'private' RV Park, this is not your place. If you have kids, a dog and like a tight-knit, friendly "family" atmosphere, this is your place. I do not have kids so I did not look at or use any of the "family" facilities such as the pool, Jacuzzi, game room and patios. But I am certain they are very nice and well kept.
Now, let's talk LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION! 1st off, this is one of only a few RV Parks in North County San Diego...AT THE BEACH. The park does a great job giving you secured access to & from the trail which leads to Buccaneer Beach, which is very nice for the kids (and parents too) as they do not have to cross the very busy, very dangerous Coast Highway. HOWEVER... PARENTS BEWARE! Buccaneer Beach is not the safest park and beach. It is often occupied by various druggies, homeless vagabonds, jobless old surfers and many transients of the same ilk coming in/out of the park & beach area. SO KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR KIDS, YOUR DOGS AND YOUR STUFF!
2nd off, this area of Oceanside CA is not the best area of Oceanside. Oceanside itself is going through a transformation and gentrification period. There's lots of fantastic, hip new pubs, bistros, restaurants and boutiques of all kinds nearby. But within the direct vicinity of this park, it is still very much the Oceanside of old and as it is near a local "metro train' station, again... vagabonds, meth heads and thieves of all types linger. SO WATCH YOUR STUFF (and your kids, dogs, etc.) Also, I WOULD NOT GO BAREFOOT ANYWHERE NEAR THE PARK OR ON THE BEACH. Lots of broken glass and possibly a needle here and there (though I did not see any).
3rd off, the Loma Alta Creek is not a pretty creek, nor is it a very natural one. In fact, it is a drainage basin which collects water from the inland areas to the East and at certain times of a hot day smells like a construction site outhouse. Depending on where your site is and which way the wind is blowing, you're going to smell it. The water is highly polluted with bacteria (and other "up-the-creek" stuff from illegal 'campers')... If I had kids, I WOULDN'T LET THEM SWIM IN THE CREEK! I wouldn't even let their bare feet touch the water. The creek is also polluted with floating trash and other things I'd rather not know about. It is an embarrassment to Oceanside IMHO and the City should be ashamed of themselves. Also know this... the creek flows into the ocean at the beach and there are signs warning about swimming in the ocean. I was a surfer growing up here and we never swam at Buccaneer Beach. Always head a good 200 yards south or north of the creek. If you can, go 500 yards. Speaking of the ocean... the waves and rip currents here can get very strong and dangerous. So swim with caution and watch out for stingrays when the water is warm.
In summary... I give 4-stars because it really is a very nice RV Park. IT'S ALSO VERY DOG FRIENDLY! (a rare thing these days). It's a bit tight between spaces, not so much privacy, LOTS of happy noisy kids & barking dogs...but the rest is top quality. AND YES... THERE ARE TRAINS! LOTS & LOTS OF LOUD TRAINS GO BY ALL DAY, ALL NIGHT. But trains are cool if you don't mind the noisy interruption. I personally liked watching them go by. It made me feel like I was in a modern European city where trains are functional and...
Read morePark is clean. Lots of amenities, store, security at night, pool, spa, a lounge area with kids sand box, corn hole, ping pong table, outdoor tv and tables, fire pit and outdoor heater. All concrete. Not many trees and lots of dirt in the spots. Spaces are very tight and awkwardly close to the person next to you. They tried to get as many spots in the park as possible it seems without the thought of people with bigger rigs or large families who need some space. It’s right on pacific coast highway so you have a ton of traffic. We were near the front so we heard sirens all day and night along with several loud and speeding vehicles. If you are near the back you have train tracks and can expect a train to roll through every few hours and blow its horn. The beach is about a 5-10 minute walk away and you have to cross a road to get there. So carrying all your beach items and dragging kids along can be tiresome. Staff isn’t the friendliest. No real greeting. At check in they are stressed and trying to get people to their spots as fast as possible and are borderline rude about it. It backs up at the entrance leaving some to wait on the main highway or be hanging out into the street. The pool is decent. They make you sign up and there are only a certain amount allowed at each hour or half hour block. People don’t follow those rules so one of the times we signed up there were several people just hanging out beyond their time frame. The spa has a 5 person max yet there were 8-10 people in there and not willing to leave for the next group. And be prepared to be moved from your original spot reserved unless you pay their ridiculous lock in fees. They’ll take someone who wants to stay longer and wants your spot over you who already booked months ahead of time. What ever they can do to make a buck. And they weren’t very accommodating to our group and keeping us together as they told us they would. When asked about why and what happened to the note and the manager stating he would keep us together, they all got defensive and extremely rude. Not how you’d expect someone to run a business but I guess when it’s privately owned you can do what you want. Unfortunately it left a bad taste in our mouths and they lost a group of customers for how they responded and...
Read moreHorrible experience! We are moving all the way from Provo Utah to be semi retired. We went to the office first and was greeted warmly enough. We toured the place and got pricing for a monthly stay.... I put down my credit card and I brought my RV to park- we were all excited and told family and friends where we would be moving to- we then left our trailer on our designated spot to retrieve the rest of our belongings from utah.... only to receive a recorded message today that we were not going to be able to stay??? because our RV all of a sudden doesn't pass their regulations?? because it doesn't have the original door that came with it.... ??? so here we are all the way in utah, loaded with the rest of our belongings, being told we are out of our spot and have no opportunity to stay.... even after saying I would order a new door!! Anyway- it was the most unprofessional thing I've ever experienced in my short time owning this RV.... I hope no one chooses this place.... after kicking out a perfectly good Tenent for no good reason, after renting them the spot!! Look elsware people!! There are many many places more professional and inviting to stay!! Sitting here right now with the cops after getting in from utah at 5:00am this morning.... apparently are now being given the "must go" by Cole and his band of minions. As I mentioned he had left a msg kicking us out for having a damaged entry door on our RV. Well I guess we don't even get a week now, which he said we paid, to find a new place to go! So we get to pack everything up again and head down the road! This time with no destination to go too!! Plz remember everyone, there are many many places to go less pretentious as this- and would probably not call the cops on you if you needed a day to find another location! One that accepts your RV with a damaged door! Enjoy your vacations people! Go elsware! These guys have ruined ours!! Ps... Cole gave us a refund in full- still not worth...
