Read moreI don't have enough space in this little Google review to describe how incredible my first experience at the Hilbert was, but suffice it to say, it was fantastic, and we can't wait to go back!! We visited on Saturday, Sep 28. Firstly, it's a marvel that this place is free to visit, and I'm very grateful for the owner's generosity for keeping it so, and and letting so many items from his personal collection be seen by the public. I wish that there was a nice, big gift shop, so I could support them more! The actual art is awesome, particularly for people like me who aren't into super "high-brow" art; but the fascinating current exhibits relate to pop culture, local history, and other fascinating topics. It's crazy how in such a small space, they pack in so much interesting, fun art! They were both so kind and friendly, and fun to talk to! They provided useful info on the art in the galleries and the museum, and were just a blast. My compliments and gratitude to all the staff who run this wonderful museum, and I'll see...

I loved the work of Emigdio Vasquez (1939-2014) who “captured the struggles of everyday working class, including day laborers and those who toiled in the citrus industry in California.” Millard Owen Sheets (1907-1989) is the creator of the mural at the entrance of the museum, and his watercolors were equally enjoyable. I loved the illustrations by Mary Blair (1911-1978), a Disney "illustrator and colorist who set the tone for... iconic animated films of the wartime era." On display were works she created for Disney’s Alice in...
