We have made The Richland our place to stay when visiting our daughter at school. I almost don't even want to leave a review for fear that "our" hotel will get booked when we need it lol. The hotel is a small boutique hotel that caters weddings and other events. We have stayed there several times while there was a wedding being held but the noise never bothered us. Whether we are in the main building, a corridor room, the Attic room, or the Cottage, we have never had a problem sleeping. The one time there was a loud wedding, we just turned on the room fan and left it on all night long for white noise and it blocked all sounds. |The rooms are very cozy and so cute! The beds are comfortable and I love hanging out in the lounge area of the main building. The staff is so incredibly kind and helpful, really the number one reason we keep returning there. |The place is pretty much in the area of "The Circle" as my college daughter calls it, where there are so many great restaurants and shops all within walking distance. Chapman University is basically a block, if that, away so it makes it easy to walk over to any functions the school is having. |All in all this is one of the best hotels we have stayed in (and we have stayed in places like The Four Seasons, The Fairmont, The Ritz-Carlton, and The Lodge and Casa Palmero in Pebble Beach). You will really enjoy...
Read moreWe stayed at The Richland while visiting our daughter in August. I was determined that we were not staying in a large hotel with families who were visiting Disneyland! Our daughter is 22 so we’re well past that stage. And I don’t like renting houses - I refuse to utilize any of my culinary skills while on vacation (is it really a vacation if I have to make breakfast????). Prior to booking, I was graciously warned by the hotel staff that it would be warm in August….LOL….people in Southern California haven’t experienced a heat wave like New England summer temps of 90 degrees with 98% humidity! Since we live on the East Coast (Rhode Island) we found Old Towne charming and the architecture reminiscent of home. There are wonderful restaurants within walking distance. We absolutely loved the hotel! We rented the Attic Suite which was beautifully decorated. While I found the attic to be warm upon arrival (it’s an attic), I was able to adjust the thermostat and the room got quite cool. The hotel is well maintained and there are a lot of special touches that elevate your stay. I was so happy that we chose to stay at The Richland and look forward to visiting Old Towne again!||PS….Be sure to get breakfast at the Filling Station! We ate there multiple mornings - it...
