I have visited this record store only a handful of times, but each time has been very special. The time depicted by the few photos which I include here was a special event in October 2021 which this store has put on very few times, namely a live music gig inside the store. I'm told that more of these are forthcoming, and I hope that I will be able to be present for those. I met the store owner Tory each time I visited, and he is not only very knowledgeable about these vinyl gems, but is truly pleasant and wonderful to work with, such as in trying to find a certain artist or genre amongst the thousands of titles contained herein. In my lifetime, I have been to only a few such record stores on the West Coast, some in Portland, some in Burbank CA. Without any question, this one is my favorite. The atmosphere and the way albums are presented is just right for losing oneself to the process of wandering through musical history as your fingers do the walking through hundreds of album covers. I'll be back, and it can't be soon enough. [Note: I purchased a few albums during each visit, and I need to say that if you look hard enough, you will certainly find some...
Read moreMy favorite record store in the greater Portland area.
We live in Gresham and will travel the 30+ minutes to visit with no hesitation.
Everytime we go, the selection is incredible. It’s also very well priced. (The room in the back with cheaper records is FULL of gems- do not pass it up!!!)
The owner does not require masks, but I still wear one whenever I enter and I’ve never once felt embarrassed or shamed for my choice. He is attentive to every client who enters and has answered my own questions and my husbands many times. He’s always friendly, patient and very cordial. It’s difficult to find that in the hipster central that Portland has become, as everyone and their mom thinks they’re a music brainiac.
My husband and I sing the praise that is “Oregon city records” and will support this small business for as long as we can.
Also- his responses to negative reviews are so professional. Bravo. I’m as liberal as they come and I have never thought twice supporting this business or leaving this 5...
Read moreThis place is a little expensive (like 12" singles by major artists, which I really enjoy, were mostly in the 7-9 dollar price range. Usually they're more like 4-6 since the market for them is narrow) but you're basically paying a finders fee for a guy who, it seems like, goes thru a bunch of junk to find the good stuff so it wasn't that big a deal. If you're looking for records from big names from the 1960s to the 1980s this is could be a great place to swing by. There was a little section of newer radio rock vinyl too. In the back there's a full room of like $2 records- it's mostly the big band junk you find at garage sales but, though I didn't have time, it would be fun to go through and if you really know your stuff you could probably find a gem or two. I'd recommend going by here, you'll pick up a...
